Jets4Life can't even convince a (albeit) somewhat sympathetic forum that Winnipeg can support a team, and is fated to regain that team. How does he expect the NHL Board of Governors to be convinced? Certainly won't be done with a Portage and Main "Rick Roll" support video.

Well duh, they didn't support the team at the start of this season. If people didn't care for the team before hand, they're not going to care and invest money int them now. Coyotes have to gain back the fan support and they are in a very tough spot because they don't have a history of winning to draw fans back from as well they've had bad press and people don't even know if the team is gonna stick around. With the latter in the air it's gonna be a big hurdle for the management to deal with in order to encourage people to come to the rink.
But I strongly believe that if the Yotes so to be a competive team and make the playoffs, then you can turely judge the market on if it's impossible or not having a NHL team there. You give them a team that can win and make the playoffs, which are the games fans truly want to see. If fan support doesn't respond to that then the franchise is to damanged to continue to stay there. It's sort of like a statement year for them depending on if they get ownership or not.

Ah, age, its a funny thing no? As time passes things from long ago get better, Cheese tastes better with age, as does fine wine, and like all things the memories of the Winnipeg Jets become fonder and fonder...
That is, until people realize that they werent that good to begin with and they aren't that good right now, in fact, they've really never been any good....

So they make the playoffs and maybe fill the building in the post season for 2, maybe 3 games and then next season the NHL invests more of the others teams money in the team in hopes for the same result. Well 2010/11 comes around and season tickets are somewhat up but nothing impressive, and then they still struggle to fill the building with 13,000+. Similar to Columbus who still has an average attendance below 15,000 and dropping as their success does.
One playoff run is not going to save this team they will need a few, and in a row, before any effect will take on that community. How long can they lose millions and millions of dollars before the other owners say WTF? How can you expect someone to buy the team when it is losing $30M a year right off the bat.

Move on with your life and start cheering for a new team.
The Jets are done like dinner.

Why would you support a team that you know you are losing?? That's like buying flowers for your girlfriend while she screws the plumber.

But if they showed interest, bought tickets then the new owner would have no reason to want to move the team and even less chance the NHL would let them.

She's not coming back no matter how many dozens of roses you buy.
You're right to a point, but it's hard to get a market into the 'let's go show these people we want this team' mindset when the last year has been all about how much you suck and how much everyone wants your team to be gone. Sure the NHL has trotted out the we want the team in Phoenix line, but the casual fan isn't jumping on board a team that they've only heard about due to a legal battle. It's a fractured and largely decimated organization at the moment in terms of marketing and promotion, that's a no win in a market that struggles to begin with. In time I think it could be repaired, but I'm not sure that there's sufficient time on the clock.

When you have Phoenix and Florida getting attendance of 6000-9000, a packed MTS @ 15,000 is NHL capacity and better than many existing teams.

Wow, nice to see you crawled out of your cave, Delgar.
Of course, in your rush to attack me, you've failed to note that I have provided facts - right to StatsCan's own reports.
So the question is, can you challenge my arguments, or are you just going to continue to whine like the little bitch I evidently made you some time in the past?

I think everyone knows that the NHL does not want to own this team long term. Their bid to buy the Coyotes included an escape after one year, which is, I would guess, what the people of Phoenix are concerned about. So long as the NHL owns the Coyotes, the axe remains over their heads. This basically is a lame duck season in Phoenix - and even the wonderful market of Winnipeg went even lower than usual in their final year. The question remains as to whether anyone will take a shot at owning that team, and if so, attendance may rebound, or it may not.

if not for the saddle dome, the flames would have moved too. and if not for the jets moving, bettman wouldn't have blocked the move of the oilers. dont confuse the fact that a new arena not being built means winnipeg couldnt support a team. the nords and jets left because they had the oldest buildings in canada for small markets.
also, that was a remarkably ######y post. if not for the threat of banning, i would elaborate further.

shoulda woulda coulda. if my aunt had a d**k, she'd be my uncle.
what's your point, theu? winnipeg had their chance and they (the team's performance, the arena, the corporate support) blew it. And then, to add insult to injury, when they finally got their heads out of their butts and build a new arena, it was built to the low end of what the nhl wanted for standards!

Now I was thinking about this... imagine if you are the players of the Phoenix Coyotes and all of these rumours are flying around that your team might be moving to Winnipeg.
Just imagine that, from Phoenix, Arizona to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
From Phoenix
To Winnipeg
I think that maybe it is the players who are putting the kybosh on this move..
