Good points, and I think you're right that if the Taliban would return to power, there would be a clamping down on the drug trade. I don't really consider it a fait accompli that withdrawing from Afghanistan now will result in a return to a Taliban government though. I'd expect it would be a decade if not more of the Taliban, the tribal warlords, and the current government all having control of various parts of the country, with each of them shifting allegiances and trying to curry favour with external powers, much as there is now, but with more civilian casualties and less control.

If there were reports of progress of what this war has been accomplishing, I wouldn't be so against it. The only reports I hear are about our boys getting sent home in body bags.

President Obama's approval rating has finally dropped below 50% overall. What is the CP Grade, Pro or Con on President Obama at this point?

Surprisingly I gave him a passing grade. Has he been truly effective? Not really, but I have no problems with him trying to reform the health care system, using a surge in Afghanistan as well. I don't think he's handled the economy all that well, but the economy is such a massive mess that I doubt that anyone could fix it. I think he panic'd in the handling of big auto as well.
If the Republican's actually had a good candidate I have no doubt that Obama would be a one term president, but the Republican's are a worse soggy mess then the Liberal's are up here.

Suprisingly, I agree with CaptainCrunch. The priorities are right, the initiatives are good, the execution is often not ideal. Passing, but not by much.

Wait a minute... so this thread doesn't have anything to do with sending blankets to soldiers?

Umm ya, that kind of claim typically requires more than one sentence of argument.

do your own homework and develop your own opinions. i was asked to provide mine and i did. if you don't like it, not my problem.
start with the federal reserve, it is not a government body, it is a private corporation. every dollar it issues has debt attached to it. meaning, there is no way ever to repay all the money created.

You have to elaborate - the Federal Reserve is an agency, so who controls the Federal Reserve, and is actually running US foreign policy? Is it the Chairman of the Fed, the Secretary of the Treasury, the big banks, the Council of Elders, another shadowy group?

The guys in office for not even a year, and everybody is writing him off. Maybe the approval rating sucks because the American people have no patience while Obama is busy whiping up the crap that Bush left for him.
