Default Fireplace gas insert......advice/suggestions?

Hey Guys,

Looking to replace the wood burning fireplace in my house with a gas insert that i'll actually use more than once a year.
Current fireplace has a log lighter and is nice and drafty.

Anyone have a gas insert installed recently? Cost? Who'd you go with? Where do I start?

Sacrilege!! How could you tear out wood fireplace in favour of gas?

I kid, they can get drafty. Any chance that could be fixed? Nothing beats a crackly pile of logs on a chilly winter night.

don't know but I'll call and ask them.... Of course I won't know what a deal it is unless you have some prices already! Give them a call and I'll email them right now! The family owns the business, there are at least three stores that i know off. Calgary, red deer, And B.C. They actually live in B.C. Right now.

Last Friday night was awesome for my fireplace...and the rest of the weekend.

Probably most of this week as well.....

I had a nice mix of Birch and Pine burning to keep me warm.

Well, get the blower fan right away. It makes a dramatic difference in moving the heat around. Plus if you don't get the fan the heat climbs up your mantle and makes it really hot, which seems like a bad thing to me.

That's all I got.
