Ingram just won the Heisman, although I think it should still go to Stanford's Gerhart.
Arizona with a huge win to cap a crazy season in the Pac-10 and hopefully finish the season ranked... and hopefully a sweet bowl game against someone other than Utah (as previously projected). Go Cats!
Thank you Alabama. I don't like Saban, but anything to end the "Ya-ya-Jesus!" facepaint by Tebow is good in my books.
I thought Texas v. Alabama/Florida would be a great NC game. But now I think it's going to be a blow out in favor of Bama. Come on Longhorns... it's Nebraska...

I cant think of a more unwatchable game than Texas/Alabama...at least from a personal standpoint.
So later tonight we will get the rundown on the 437 bowl games about to be unleashed.
Unfortunately only one really matters, where as a playoff system would have the entire football fanbase with much more anticipation. Just watching the FBS games yesterday makes me shake my head at the BCS....the whole thing is just a joke and had that last second Texas FG gone wide, the whole BCS would be in complete meltdown today trying to decide which team was more worthy to be there...as it is the only reason texas is in is because they had a higher pre-season ranking than any of TCU, Boise St and Cincinnati. Great way to decide things.

I'm no Alabama fan but the Tebow tears were a thing of beauty. I'm sure he's a great kid, but the John 3:16 on the eyeblack is weak. Can't see Texas giving Alabama a game, but three weeks off does all sorts of weird things to a football team. Oh, and Jake Locker ended his Husky days with a win, good luck in Cleveland or St. Louis!

I've always been on the side of no playoffs cause it made the regular season a huge game of survivor. Lose one game and you're out.
Yesterday's Florida-Alabama game would have been meaningless if both teams were already guaranteed a playoff berth.
March Madness in college basketball is fun on the first weekend cause of Cinderella but it gets pretty boring at the Final Four (I've heard it's one of the worst events to attend). And it make the entire college basketball season pretty obsolete.
Although more and more I'm leaning towards a playoff cause you can't fit 6 teams into one game.
However you do it though, teams will still feel they're left out.
Who would be your teams in an 8-team playoff this year.
Alabama (SEC), Texas (Big Ten), TCU (MWC), Boise State (WAC), Cincinnati (Big East), Oregon (Pac-10), Ohio State (Big 10) and Georgia Tech (ACC)?
That leaves Florida out.. If you put Florida in, who do you take out?
Where would the tournament take place? When would it take place? Would it go into February? Would you remove all the other bowl games?

So I'm person who likes it the way it is but am leaning towards a playoff system that makes sense. Convince me

We get it - you don't like the BCS. Complaining about it in every post isn't going to change anything.

Higher seeding and home playoff dates at stake do not equate to meaningless....nevermind the whole idea of winning your conference trophy and associated bragging rights.

Of course that will happen...however, a #9 ranked 2 loss team just doesnt have the same complaint that a 0 loss #3 team would, yet they are both relegated now.

This year for me it would be that^^^ minus Ohio St. Slot Florida in. I know its popular to HAVE to have the BCS conference winners in...but the Big 10 this season was ultra weak, and Ohio St was weak in OOC games sans the USC loss...which even further demonstrates how bad that conference is THIS season. That will change next year more than likely, and change again after that. Also IMO there would be no 2 team limit on conferences if there are more than 2 good teams that deserve top 8. Never understood that one myself.
But you are correct...somone will always be complaining...much like that happens now.

Firstly...the tournament doesnt take place in one city.
Travel is an easy deal these days as the followers no longer have to take trains across country to see teams.
It would be
1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5
With the higher seed hosting. Just like the NCAA already does with the FBS series.
I would allow the first round of games to be bowl games. Then the BCS bowl games could be the rest of the playoff system, with one game being designated each year as the NC game just like they do now. A rotation being part of things so the Fiesta and Rose one year would be part of the first set of games. Then the second rd would be the Orange and Cotton, with the final being one of those again in the last game of the year...just like this year.
We have 5 full weeks until we see a champion crowned this season...and niether of those teams will play until that game. 35 days with nothing. I cant believe that these players cant handle 1, 2 or 3 more games in that time. Which i think is an even more compelling argument for a 16 team playoff versus the always suggested 8. But that is pie in the sky thinking.
This would have NO effect on the rest of the 97 bowl games either. As it doesnt now.

Okay, so why does any discussion about what going to happen in the BCS resort to you crying about how great the 1-AA playoffs are? One thing has nothing to do with the other. This thread has been over the playoff argument. When comes the point when you can actually discuss the possibilities at hand and accept the fact that playoffs aren't happening anytime soon?

Why can't you accept the fact that the BCS infuriates people? You don't have the right to determine what is relevant to this thread and what isn't? With the BCS about to spew it's seed all over the sports world I think it's a perfect time to point out why it sucks, if that's how a person feels.

There are final exams in December, that's why teams take 30 days off. As much as we like to think of College Football as pros, the majority of the players need to get a degree.
Is traveling that easy? If you were a college student could you afford to go to 3 different bowl games in three different cities? I assumed people saved up for one big bowl game. You gotta take bands, and cheerleaders and everyone!

Wow, it's an online message board - lose the moral high ground. And why don't I have the right to say what I think about complaining about the playoffs every second week?
The fact of the matter is the playoff debate has been beaten to death and there's no point in someone highjacking the thread for another round when there's actual FOOTBALL talk to be had.
Let's not talk about one of the best weekends in college football you'll ever see with 4 BCS Conferences being decided in the last minute and a #1 vs. #2 Florida/Bama showdown. Or how we think the bowls are going to shape out. Or what BCS bowls would be the best match-up. Or who we think should win the Heisman.
No, let's go 3 weeks back in time and re-hash our same tired (and useless) opinions on theoretical playoff scenarios.

So can we put all the "Tim Tebow is the greatest college football player ever" argument to rest? He won 1 heisman and 1 natl title ... yeah I know he has 2 rings but he was the back up QB to Chris Leak in the first one . Chris Leak was the MVP of the game btw.
He is a great player but the best player ever is quite a stretch ...There are plenty of others who have done a lot of great things .. Hometown boy ( for me anyway) Jim Thorpe comes to mind when thinking of best college football player ever... Hell he played without pads, and I dont believe he ever cried when his team lost .

Lame. Boise St. vs. TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.
A plus one system needs to be implemented badly.
