So is it 'shame on you' for wasting 5 minutes of your day reading Locke's post?

that's why I feel and have felt for a long time the euro cup is more prestigious than the world cup. it's far more difficult to win

Chile does have it's share of hot women (Ie. Maura Rivera) but Brazil is in another class. I truly wish Colombia were in the World cup because they have the hottest women on earth and I'd love to see them going to the games

Euro cup can't be more prestigious cause it doesn't have Brazil!
Plus Euro Cup has a bunch of boring Euro teams! SNORE
People who want more European teams in the World Cup.. I point to Ukraine against Switzerland 2nd round.

Just make it the Euro's and have Brazil and Argentina annex themselves from South America and become South Europe
hold that tournament every two years, everybody wins

Diasgree. I like the flair that teams from Africa bring. They're a lot of fun to watch. And who doesn't like a Senegal 02, or Nigeria 94 or Cameroon in 90. I also think the fact that the world comes together every four years adds a lot to the prestige of this tournament. The way they have it right now is perfect. I hope it NEVER changes and I don't think it will.

Took a gander at the FIFA rankings (I know, grain of salt), but 8 of the top 32 are European teams that did not qualify for the World Cup. Hell, New Zealand, North Korea and South Africa are ranked well below Canada. In Germany 2006, seven of the eight quarter-finalists were from Europe. Europe should get 16 spots.

I don't think the overall point was that Euro teams are the best - it was just that in the Euros, there is an absence of fodder.

ya that is kinda what I was trying to say
its nice for North Korea and New Zealand to be in the tournament but teams like Russia and Ireland are far better
the world cup is not the best 32 teams, its like the best 14 and fodder, although every once in awhile that fodder makes an exciting run to the quarters or the semis.

If you want more European teams, watch the Eurocup. It comes around just as often as the World Cup. You can't have Brazil and Argentina without letting the whole world in so deal with it. You may want to watch team like Slovakia and Bulgaria but there are many more that would want to watch good teams like Paraguay, Ausralia and Ivory Coast.

Sure you can, CONMEBOL and CONCACAF invite outside teams to their tournaments all the time. UEFA would be unlikely to ever do it, but if FIFA pissed them off enough I guess I could see it happening.

If you let Brazil and Argentina then there will be less spots and teams will complain about missing out. Like England

I don't know if it's feasible to expand a continental tournament beyond 16 teams. I believe in 2016 when the European Championships expand to 24 teams, it'll be really watered down.

I like the current format.
The emerging nations need to know how far they have to go to compete with the elites.
Eventually, we will see champions from Africa/Asia, but they need to get their toes wet first on the big stage.
