So awesome. Took the flight from Calgary to Frankfurt this past summer. A lot of leg room and their VOD TVs on the seatbacks blow away Air Canada's. Food was also great, as was the unlimited booze.

Best airline I've ever flown on.

I didn`t have a problem with Air Transat, the only thing I can think of is that the meals were a little lacking. I never watch in-flight movies but I do remember there being TVs.

I've flown them twice once to Europe about 3 years ago and to Mexico last year...in between the 2 flights apparently they made a move to remove a few seats in their planes so it was definitely less cramped the 2nd time (luckily I had an exit row on the way to Europe, not so lucky on the way back)

to Mexico I do recall there being some TVs, and the flight really wasn't that bad....

Air Transat is like the Calgary Transit of the sky- cheap but effective.

Bring you own meal(s), and prepare to be squished in. Also buy a drink once you are past security at the airport.

Are they crappy? Yes. But I will still fly with them again if I save hundreds on my flight.

Yes. It's worse than Westjet. Transat crams 4 seats in the space most airlines use for 3....or it seems that way anyway. The flight back will be especially bad because everyone will be hot, sweaty, tired, hungover and half the plane will be making repeated trips to the bathroom. Enjoy!!

Yeah Lufthansa is awesome. The business class product is great, an almost lie flat seat and plenty of options on your TV to keep you entertained if you don't feel like sleeping.

I flew with them to Frankfurt in January and will be doing it again in 2010. I also like their arrival time into Frankfurt and back into Calgary.

Compare with a KLM A330-300:

http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/KLM...s_A330-200.php

Essentially an extra seat crammed into every row of economy (9 vs. 8)

You also lose an inch of leg room, which might not seem like much until you're into your 2nd or 3rd hour of flight.

I'm 6-2, 225 lbs, and I flew AT to Amsterdam a while back -- a very painful (and hungry) experience. God help me, I will never set foot on that airline again. It is very obvious that you get what you pay for.

The leg room is fine but the seats are very narrow.

If you are walking from the plane on the tarmac to the terminal, they may open the back door as well so be patient if you're at the back and get ready to climb over everyone to get to the back (airport bar).

Like the others have mentioned, Lufthansa is great. I especially like the little wrapper that your little piece of bread and/or pastry comes in. It has some obscure fruit on it and a little blurb about where it comes from, etc.

It's the little things... In the last year and a half I have taken a number of shorter-haul Lufthansa flights in Europe and each time the service has been really good.

Good looking stewardesses too. Because, admit it, we all look. I'd place them above Air Canada, but not as cute as those on SAS and KLM.

Edit: Oh yeah - to answer the OP's question (sort of), you can never have enough things to do on a plane. Bring an assortment, just in case. Book, magazines, iPod, portable game thingy, etc. You will rarely regret having the option, even if you have one of those in-flight entertainment systems right in front of you.

No lie... you're going to be squished... both leg room and seat width. Air Transat is cheap as hell... but there's a reason why...

Agreed. I'm only 5 foot 8, and 125 pounds, and I am uncomfortable on their planes.

Next time I go to Europe I'll probably use them again.
How many years ago was this? Air Canada DESTROYS Air Transat. Your own personal entertainment system where you can pick the shows/movies/music you want to watch.

Flying Air Canada now is pretty much identical to flying Lufthansa except there are more movies and shows in English.
