Actually, I skipped Bennett on purpose. I was asked to focus on prospects that were doing really well or really poorly thus far. Bennett fell right in the middle. In addition, I've never seen the kid play so I couldn't really add anything to his perfectly medicore stats line.
Ok, it was just the way the article was written..
Quote:
The majority of the six junior prospects currently play in the WHL
It made me think that the author believed the Flames only had 6 prospects playing in Junior..great job on the article though.

Well the fact that you actually have the good sense NOT to write about a player you don't know much about puts you head and shoulders above many others.

Went to the Heat/Rivermen game tonight. Heat won 6-2. Irving had 38 saves and looked really good all game. Gave up a few juicy rebounds which resulted in the goals, but positioning was really good. Riley Armstrong had 2G. Chucko, Aulie, Germyn, and Murray(?) had a goal apiece. Backlund had an assist I believe. Van der Gulik and Kronwall both left w/ injuries.

Brodie's finally producing for the Colts, getting two assists and the 2nd star tonight. Gaelan Patterson and Lance Bouma also notch two assists apiece.

7 goals, 6 assists, 12 P.I.M in 26 games.
His rating is even.
Currently tied for 15th in rookie point totals.
Tied for 3rd in rookie goals.
I cant really give you a personal account on his play, but looking at the stats during/after games, hes taking a lot of shots. Hopefully soon more start to go in, or his linemates can start banging in a few more rebounds for assists.

thanx.
can anyone who watches the heat games comment on how backlund's play has been. His stats don'tn really say much, as they aren't great, and they aren't terrible (or maybe that's indicative of his play exactly ?)....
Ortio will make his Elite League debut start tonight. After good start TPS has struggled lately and their two other goaltenders haven't been able to win games and they are trying something new with Ortio in this game.

I love these overseas updates.
Please let us know how he does... seems like a bad situation actually, if it is the teams fault more than those other goalies, but I guess these are the small chances young players need to learn (win or lose, good game or bad game).
TPS hadn't won in regulation time in nearly two months until 18-year-old gets his first chance to try and does everything what was asked. 5-3 win for TPS. 20 saves and third star of the game for Ortio. Awesome.

Oh wow, that is huge! Good for him.
Thanks for the update!
Do you think he stays with the team and gets some more starts then?

His coach seems like a guy who doesn't change winning line-up. Coach Suikkanen keeps players accountable and credits for good plays. So I think Ortio will continue in net until he loses. There's rumors TPS might acquire Jani Hurme from Sweden and his acquisation would damage Ortio's Elite League minutes significantly. Ortio gets good minutes in 2. highest league, juniors and U20-team so it's not big deal not to play in Elite League eventhough it's cool for us fans and very promising too to see so young goalie to make impact in big league and get a win.
Goals he allowed in:
1. Slapshot from point just over the left pad. Without traffic in front he would have catched it with glove.
2. One-timer from right side beats him again on glove side. Shooter has the hardest shot in the league and got all of it in this shot, potentially 100 mile per hour and just under crossbar. Ortio challenged shooters aggressively in both goals but his glove hand wasn't quick enough this time.
3. 3 on 3 attack, defence gives too much space for attackers, puck takes a weird bounce on blocked shot, Ortio loses the sight to puck and at the end finds it behind his back.
