Since I am on the highway a lot I wish there was some nice sized trees to block the wind from acting like a zamboni, it isn't the snow-rain mix, it's the damn wind that makes it worse then it should be.

Weather on days like that reminds me why I'm so happy to live downtown and be able to work to and from work

Thankfully I walked home on Friday and decided that sex wasnt woth the driving hassle. Saturday morning going to NE Costco and Superstore was funzies. Driving from Sunridge Superstore to Costco along the road that parallels the back of sunridge mall was pure ice, going 20-30 just to make sure i didnt get into an accident. Was really funny watching people try to gun it off the line at a stop light only to see them fishtail and bang into the guy next to them - idiots.

So you're saying Costco is better than sex?

Gee, I didn't think the roads were that bad at all. Didn't slide at all. On the other hand, there were lots of dweebs that totally panicked.

It sill befuddles me why people buy RWD cars here.

Yeah, my friend had a RWD Capri with Blizzaks and a whole lot of sandbags in the back... He still slid around.

I didn't even know there was a problem until I came in to work today. Another reason to appreciate living in Woodbine.

If you didn't know, it had more to do with leaving work early than where you live in the city.....

My commute, from downtown to Patterson Hills, is usually 20 minutes. I left the office at 5:15 and arrived home at 9:45.... ouch.

Someone in my office left early at 4:00, lives pretty close to me, and got home after a normal drive.

Today is shaping up to be a similar day. Warm west wind until later this afternoon when a cold front will come from the north bringing snow with it. Will be interesting to see if we get the same icy conditions.

Yeah, went home at 2:45. But then we went out for dinner and did some grocery shopping in the evening down south and didn't notice any issues...

I was noticing that too. I'm kind of hoping that the snow starts sooner rather than later today. I'd rather have 1:00 snow and 4:00 slush than 4:30 snow and 5:00 ice.

Well I am still a little disappointed that I haven't gotten to try out my new winter tires. Although I don't want to do it at the expense of wasting time being stuck in traffic.

Anyone with a bit of talent can drive a RWD in the winter. It really isnt that difficult if you take your foot off the gas in the corners and on icy bridges. Winter tires help but sandbags arent a huge difference maker.

I'm guessing you did that after the Flames game, cause the roads were a whole different story at 8 than they were at 6. At 6 I wasn't going anywhere, by 8 I was going from the far North to Mackenzie in the normal time.

Well, it looks like it is moving at about 20 km/h and it is just past Red Deer. So, I think it might start snowing just after 5.

Nope - had dinner at Sunshine Vietnamese in Bonavista at 5 and then hit the Southland Superstore - did not notice anything. It was snowing a bit but that's about it. Of course, all long-term residents know - Calgary North and Calgary South are different climate zones...

So you're saying you didn't watch the game?

I was stunned by how different it was in the South from the North. I've been living out east for the last 5 years and completely forgot how different the weather can be from mile to mile in Calgary.

Down in the deep south the temperature has just shot up 10 degrees in 20 minutes. Might as well enjoy the nice weather while I can.
