At some point though, a fad becomes a tradition and a true fan base. The Flames are a good example. Their attendance was terrible in the mid to late 90's and the Flames were in complete termoil, to the point where the Flames were close to leaving. But, one good run later and a decent core later, the Flames are well supported in terms of sales.

As long as the dream of winning it all exists for a team, the support them is pretty good.

Quit generalizing and stereotyping. There's drunken morons in EVERY fanbase.

Yep, just that there are a disproportionate amount of drunken morons in the Rider fanbase... like 80%

I hate Rider games at McMahon because of all the Rider fools who show up loaded to the game and look to pick fights, swear at little kids and do many other idiotic actions.

And to add to the atmosphere, CPS and security is on edge because they don;t know the next time Rider fans will be going for their guns.

Not to mention Rider fans are the ones solely responsible for CPS cracking down on tailgating.

A few points here guys:
- Let's discuss the game in this thread. We had a long thread before about Rider fans vs. Stamps fans and I don't think either side convinced the other of anything.
- And let's stop with the insults. This also means no more quoting posts from people who are now in the sin bin.
- I guess I need to add- keep the ticket sales in the ticket sales forum.
[\Mod voice]

My take, as a Bomber fan first and a Stamps fan second- I was hoping the Stamps could make another appearance at the Grey Cup by crushing the Bombers arch rival, but it looks like the Stamps as a team got beaten. I don't think this can fall on any one player or one bad call, it was a flat out defeat at the hands of a team that wanted it more. The Stamps won the 1st quarter and then coasted the rest of the game.

So, go Als I guess.

Burris wasn't good enough today, there is no question. But I don't think he was awful. The 2nd pick wasn't his fault and if copeland doens't slip thats a big gain when the game was still in reach. I woudln't put this game on Burris, but I do agree he dind't play well enough to win.
I am most dissapointed with George cortez in this game. i think he called a terrible game. He kept trying to use that zone read play that the Roughriders sniffed out and were ready for. and honestly, come on you ran that play all the time against Edmonton. did you not stop and think that perhaps the Riders might watch your tape and be ready for it? Once they stopped that, it was clear Cortez was fooled. he had no other way of attacking the Riders and their offence stalled becuse of it.
I lost it when on a 2 and 1 he called a motion reverse with playaction? He's in a position to drive and calls a play that can lose him yardage? terrible call and the day was full of it. Sask blitzes alot and usually that leaves a screen game open. Yet they didn't call a screen until the game was out of reach. Cortez bothered me all year. I think he believe too much i his offence and his game plans and he deosn't change it till its too late.

Our offence was terrible for the last half of the year. They went into a funk and never fully snapped out of it. I understand that the losses of Rambo and Thelwell were significant, but an offence with Burris, Copeland, Lewis, Reynolds as primary contributors should never struggle as much as they did.

As much as I hate the Riders, they were the better team tonight. They beat us soundly twice over the last two weeks and deserve to be in the Final. That said, I hope the Als crush them.

In someways I saw this loss coming. The Stamps for whatever reason couldn't rise to the occassion when it was needed the most. Hopefully lessons learned will be carried forward to next season and the apropriate changes made. The best team won and my hat goes off to the Ridesr for thier victory.

Now go Als go!!

The curse of hosting the Grey Cup strikes again.

I have to admit Saskatchewan deserves the win today. They made the adjustment better than the Stampeders does. They are way better on all facets of the game today especially after the TD by the Stamps. One thing that scares me earlier was the Saskatchewan SB in Fantuz and Getzlaf having a good game again which they did. That was the Riders' bread and butter today. I hate to admit it but the better team won it today. I guess better luck next year.

Stamps lost the same way they lost every other game this year - poor discipline, mediocre special teams, insufficient d-line pressure, out-coached. Turning over half the starters on the defence (again) didn't help either.

Riders were the better team, and more importantly, the better-coached team, which is pretty sad considering Grampa is in charge. How is it that the Stamps can KNOW that the pass is going to Fantuz, and the Riders still make the play? Yet we can't impose our will on them by getting the ball to Copeland when we need an important first down? The coaches seem to think it's all execution, and not their play-calling, but when it's the fourth game against the same team and you still let them run their bread'n'butter plays at will, you have to start looking a little further than just saying the players "suck".

One of the things that bothers me about Burris is after a loss he uses lines like "we didn't execute" or "we couldn't get it done" etc...

I rarely/never hear him say "I didn't play well" or "I messed up" or anything using "I" when summing up poor play or a loss. Most good leaders will take it on their shoulders publicly and I wish Hank would do that at least once in a while.

At least Montreal is going to slap the Riders silly.

Not that I'm going to waste the time to watch. Crawford is right. Worst fans in football, and as a whole, their fans don't deserve to be here, even if the team does.

You must have missed the 1985/86 S.O.S campaign. Save Our stamps, they were real close to folding and were a terrible franchise that decade as well.

I disagree. I have been cheering for the Riders as long as I have the Flames and the only team that I have noticed gain a "cool again" backing is the one located in Calgary.

Good game guys, my brother was at the game sitting by a few Stamps fans and he said they were treated with a great deal of respect. Nothing thrown on them etc.. minimal trash talk, basically only as much back as they were willing to dish out and they left shaking the hands of everyone around them saying good game. I guess Rider fans have one up on the Canucks fanbase, amiright?

Rare that I blame the coaches, but I think they were a big reason for the loss today and the lackluster season. You're completely right about the zone read: how did they think that Sask hadn't spent the whole week working out how to stop it? Also, I'm pretty frustrated with special teams; still vulnerable to the big play, while unable to generate anything themselves. The kick return to start the second half was an absolute dagger. The defense wasn't bad, actually pretty good overall except at the halfback position, so I think it might be more of a personnel issue than a coaching issue. But overall, this team did not look prepared for the game that they were required to play.
Full credit to Saskatchewan for adapting and improving as the game went on; classic case of the team that makes the right adjustments ending up winning.

Kinda sucks the stamps lost but they didn't want it, they looked like they did in the 1st and then I don't know what happened but at least MTL will slap the riders silly!
