I'm not sure how you guys are running this but would it be possible to hop in a game or two when I'm back in town for Christmas?

I'll be here. If you want to play, drop me a line when you are in town. We'll play if anybody else is around.

I'm tentatively thinking of the first get together on Friday Dec. 4th or Saturday Dec. 5th... Will contact people directly with particulars in due course.

Just to update, 18 people have signed up, so might not be able to accomodate everyone the first night, as I don't see being able to fit more than 10 in our boardroom. Of course, turnout is never 100% anyhow. Would still like to hear from anyone that can accomodate 2 tables worth or knows of some space we could get cheap...

Just a thought for a place to play - What about renting a room and tables at a legion around town. I think they are relatively inexpensive.
I know some buddies did it for a big poker game a while ago. Not sure what they paid but I know it was fairly reasonable.

I might be able to do Friday, but I'm pretty sure Saturday is out.

I've got inquiries into a couple of the Legions around town, so we'll see. I think getting a date in December that works for everyone is impossible, so I'll just pick a date that works for me , unless someone else steps forward who can host. If it looks like only 10 people can make it anyhow, I'll use the boardroom. As I asked previously, nobody has a heated garage, where we can put a couple of fold-up tables and a beer fridge? I don't, otherwise I'd offer. Mrs. Impaler is reluctant to host 20 people I've never met before, since she wants me to make sure you are not kleptos or slashers first.

The Legion is not being cooperative - either they don't want poker or they are booked or whatever... Stay tuned...

There is always room - I have over 20 people on the list - the problem is organizing a locale, and, ideally, a consistent locale. It seems that renting a room of any sort is $25/hr or so. So, to rend a community hall, we pretty much need to be sure 25 show up to make it worthwhile...

Have you considered a casino? We did a work function and had a fun tournament. Deerfoot inn I think.

The rake is high, if your buy-in is low. Ideally, we want something where we can avoid paying too high a percentage to the house.

If it's at a casino, I'm out for sure. Just not worth it with the HUGE percentage they take.
I wish I had a place I could volunteer, sadly I don't.
