This is a good album, I listened to all three albums like 9045 times on the way down to San Francisco. So I really like it, but my girlfriend hates it.

Patterson Hood-Murdering Oscar

Best CD I've purchased all year. I haven't bought much this year, but I think it would hold up to some of the lists in this thread.

I made up all those names in reference to the fact that I didn't recognize one single band from the OP's list, and most of them sound cheezy. It was supposed to be funny, and people were supposed to thank me. You can still do so.

Inward Eye's new album is very very good. Good to see the brothers release a great CD. Their sound is very Who-punkish. Check 'em out. Inward Eye

Silversun Pickups - Swoon has been in heavy rotation for me this year.

Definitely agree with Metric - Fantasies.

Hey Rosetta, Said the Whale, and Two Hours Traffic have caught my attention as well this year, although I haven't listened to their 2009 releases in entirety.

Rural Alberta Advantage are talented, but they don't appeal to me for some reason.

I miss Broken Social Scene.

I'll play along. I agree with the OP, this was a good year for music. Some other reconds you might like:

CanCon: Count me in on the RAA as well. That was a pleasant surprise. I also really like Canadian band Ohbijou who released their second (?) album, Beacons, this year.

Other cds that are among my favourites this year:

Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavillion.

Wilco's release was solid.

Radiohead released "These are my Twisted Words", it's wonderful.

So is Thom Yorke's cover of the Miracle Legion song "All for the Best"

The Antlers album is pretty good. Somebody told me before I listened to it they talk about hospitals a lot and that annoyed them. I have a hard time not being annoyed by that too.

People really need to stop liking Wilco.

Ramona Falls (1/3 of Menomena) is pretty decent.

Listening to a Brand New station on last.fm turned me onto Manchester Orchestra.

Kinda funny

Same here, the only band in this thread I recognized was the Yeah yeah yeahs (they're OK in my books).

CP used to be a good source for new music, I discovered some of my favs via this board. However now it's all generic indie-folk-whiny-coldplay-clone stuff... Too bad.
