Default Lou Dobbs leaving CNN

Wonder if the shooting at his house a while back has anything to do with it?

Quoted from CNN:

"Over the past six months, it has become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us, and some leaders in media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem-solving as well as to contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day and to continue to do so in the most honest and direct language possible," Dobbs said during his 7 p.m. broadcast.

You can watch his "Good-bye" video here:

Cheers!

Never was much of a Lou fan. Slightly dissappointed he may be making decisions or impacting something important.

Maybe CNN fired him so they can replace him with a Mexican host who will work for half of what Dobbs made?

I'll be glad to see him go. I watch CNN often (too much actually) and over the last 5 years Dobbs has lost his lustre. He's gotten annoying instead of insightful.

It's not just Lou... over the last few years the American news and media in general have been pretty brutal.

When you watch the likes of CNN & Fox... do you really feel informed of anything other than the election in 2008 and celebrity bullcrap?

It's like propaganda.

some say CNN is left wing but all the American news networks became cheerleaders for the invasion of Iraq, even MSNBC, and lost what ever credibility they had. As you say half their programming is filled with celebrity bullcrap and entertainment news.

Most of it is as fake as WWE and I feel sorry that Americans are subjected to what they call news, especially Fox. I'm not saying that Canadian news is a whole lot better but listening to other views such as BBC and even Russia Today can expand my horizons while understanding that everyone has an agenda. It's just that American news no longer seems interested in giving news but is more interested in ratings and playing to the lowest common denominator to achieve their political ends.

You don't think European news channels do exactly that? They pioneered it. Especially the British.

From what I've seen they aren't so into telling outright lies but even if they do, it somehow feels better to be conned by someone with a little more finesse, which is why it's good to be exposed to different sources, so uh we won't get fooled again but of course we will when the next fool with delusions of grandeur wants to start another war.

Lou believes in stopping the illegal flow of immigration from Mexico. The Democrats see this mass immigration as a source of minority votes.

Lou has said that the question of Obama's birth place is a legitimate one and has questioned why the administration hasn't done what is needed to put the question to rest. He believes Obama is an American citizen from birth but, doesn't understand the unwillingness of some to let the questions be answered.

Both of these positions has put Lou at serious odds with the leftward leaning CNN.

He's either going to run for something or to Fox News.

They've been provided photographs of the birth certificate. Have had it independently verified. The republican governor of Hawaii has verified it. The supreme court has ruled that its satisfied. The McCain campaign looked into the issue and were satisfied that he's a citizen. Obviously, its not as official as a birth certificate but they've provided the birth announcement from Hawaii newspapers which came directly from the hospital.

I don't really run with the tin foil hat crowd so I must admit I'm not sure of what's the latest in the birther movement. What outstanding issues and questions still exist?

CBC is no BBC but it is light years ahead of any news from the major US stations.

If Obama was not a citizen, Hillary would have been all over it.

I'm not really up on it myself but, the last I heard the only thing that's been produced is a live birth certificate which is issued by a doctor and only indicates a live child has been born. If she had given birth outside of the country she would have needed to see a doctor upon returning to the States in order to prove a child had been born to her. Only a doctor can declare a person born or dead. In order to get a birth certificate she would need the live birth certificate and some proof from the hospital that the child was born there on a given day. If Obama was born out of country she would have to provide proof of her age and own citizenship along with the live birth document in order to be issued the birth certificate. Also Obama traveled as a young man to some Muslim country that at the time didn't accept American passports. I don't remember the name of the country but, in any case it is thought that Obama must have at least possessed a passport from his Father's country or the one he went to grade school in(Indonesia?) at that point in his life.
