I think the coffin is a bit of a distraction. I'm guessing that Arthur is simply making a hand-made coffin, from wood he harvested and milled with his own hands and that it will turn out to be a gift from the heart for somebody at his church, maybe a homeless person or a poverty stricken parishioner. Probably somebody he had befriended, he seemed obviously upset when Dex asked why the wood couldn't just be purchased.

just a thought.

Masuka:

Masuka testing the DNA of human remains (ashes) does not srike me at all as odd. Masuka is a freak for sure. He's got a dark sense of humour and he's tactless, but I think he's very passionate about his work and he gets off on catching killers just like anyone else. He's a Geek, But He's a smart Geek.......Just doing his job.

Deb:

The reason Laguerta gave Deb the go-ahead on the Trinity investigation is simple. Deb presented it to her by showing there was a 30 year connection with the Blugeonings and kept everything else to herself. She's been allowed to investigate in a "limited" manor. Like Deb herself said" I'm allowed to inestigate Trinity, without investigating Trinity!"

....No mystery or holes in these story lines at all. Not IMHO anyway.

I think he is the quadrilateral killer. The fourth Kill I think will represent himself thinking he should have died with his Sister and Mother.

Tiny little preview of next episode.

There are two segments to the preview, 1 commercial before each one.

*Note: These are fairly short, non spoiler previews. just benign little segments.

....Really helped me with my Dexter withdrawl.

Edit for white:

...and the reporter is Matsuka's height... approximately.

Good call by those who doubted Trinity.

Spoilers Below.

Trinity didn't kill Lundy, I am very happy that the show continues to not take the easy way out and have kept their serial killers very pattern based.

Likely a women who killed Lundy, I don't think it is the reproter because Lundy hadn't met her yet and I think Lundy recognized the shooter

I am thinking it is either the reporter or Mrs Trinity.

The reporter has already proven that she is willing to sleep with people to get a good story so maybe killing a cop will get her another good story. It is a stretch but maybe they will show a crazier side of her next week showing that killing for her is possible.

As far as Mrs Trinity goes they haven't really shown her much other then last night. It could come out in the next week or so that she knows all about her husband and his dark side and does what she needs to do to protect him (kill the cops looking into him). This one could also work with the Dexter/Rita angle of her eventually finding out his dark side.

Of course by next weeks episode I could be way off and it could just be someone shooting them from in a car.

Theory:

The Coffin Arthur M. was making, was for himself.

Why?

He transfered his Sisters ashes into the small "portable" glass vile for the trip to Tampa. This preperation was done prior to Dexter admitting to Arthur about him killing an innocent. The suicide attempt had nothing to do with Dexter or any revelations that came as a result of him and Dexter being "the same". The whole reason for the trip to tampa was to kill himself. Perhaps because after 30 years and using almost all the ashes, he'd come full circle, back to where it all started. This exit was inevitable in Trinity's mind.

The Shooter:

I posted before who I thought the shooter was a while ago, Obviously I was wrong.

#1-Trinity

#2-Jonah Mitchell

#3-Christine (the reporter)

Well, I guess I can scratch my first choice off the list!

...So now I think Jonah (Mitchell's son) shot Lundy and Deb. Simple explanation. Arthur made him do it. Just like Arthur could not kill the deer, (even though it had to be put out of it's misery) he could not kill Lundy either, even though it absolutely had to be done.

....Either that or it was LEGUERTA!!!!
....I just can't think of any good enough reason why she would do it though.

I think it may be possible that Arthur's Family knows more about Dads activities than we think. But Arthur has a strong hold on all of them and is in complete control of his Family, as depicted when the son was washing the car, the daughter watering the plants and the wife getting his clothes folded and bringing only him a refreshing drink and not the children.

On a Side Note:

The whole Leguerta/Batista thing is soooooo not interesting. Does anybody (viewers) really care if they are bumping uglies or not?...Cuz I sure don't. The only good that has come of that whole story line, was when Batista broke the "previously weakened" table. That was funny.

Deb, even though She has somewhat of a "Boyish" figure, looked kinda sexy when showing off her gunshot wounds, Masuka was Hilarious!!

Quinn is making it a real pet project to get under Dexter's skin and trying to find out what makes him tick, It's interesting and creates a nice level of tension for the show.

Sorry to add this, every show has it's weaknesses in terms of the writers getting away with B.S. But I thought 2 instances in particular were just plain unbelievable:

When Arthur & Dexter went to Arthur's boyhood home and were having their conversation in the bathroom, I find it hard to buy the fact that it took the oriental couple that long to come upstairs and ask them to leave.

Also, when They were driving back to Miami in the Van, and in line at the police check point, I find it hard to believe that somebody could just pull a u-turn that easily and avoid being checked.

.....Just some thoughts,

Call me disappointed, a month goes by before someone realizes the shooter was short? (and it was the victim no less) CSI would have analized the wounds within hours and knew that, Dexter would have figured that out himself and known Trinity wasn't the killer 3 weeks ago.

Also,There trying their best to have us beleive that the reporter shot them to get a story. I don't by it and if it turns out that way it'll be very lame.

IIRC, for quite some time, everyone including Debra thought it was the "vacation murderer" who shot her and Lundy. That chick was pretty short. For all we know, that was analyzed and fit the description of the vacation murder suspects. Debra wanted it to be the Trinity killer so bad that perhaps she overlooked the height of the bullet holes? She didn't think it was Trinity until some time after she man-handled the vacation murder suspect in the jail cell...

Dexter is supposed to be an "easy to watch", fun show. Don't let small, potential inconsistencies in the storyline take away from that.

I'm also enjoying the conspiracy theories and predictions posted by Methanolic. Throw enough stuff against the wall and something is inevitably going to stick, huh?

I think having Jonah makes the most sense as Lundy's killer.

For one, Dexter has interacted with him a couple times, while the show has completely ignored the daughter and wife, makes me think he will be featured in some way in a future episode.

Two, Dexter has been so interested in the Trinity killer, because he is an example of how Dexter can be a family man and a killer. Having Trinity's son kill Deb and Lundy will destroy Dexter's theory that he can keep his family in the dark about his secret.

It's the reporter, and I called it weeks ago. Just ask my wife!

Arthur isn't very stable. That is interesting to me. It's going to cause Dexter more problems the longer he lets him go without being 'punished'.

As for Laguerta's love life, anything that offers a possibility of Lauren Velez showing off her Laguertas is interesting to me.

The reason Dexter is going so far after Trinity is not only for the other victims, but mostly because he belives he shot Debra and Lundy. Wonder what will go through Dexter's mind when he find's out it was NOT Trinity who shot Debra......

Probably Next week on Dexter
