Clock management is a foreign concept to Andy Reid. Still can't believe that call on 4th down.

The excuse for signing Mike Vick was for 3rd and short situations. Where was that tonight? Reid drives me mad with his coaching.

Now that this NFL season is almost half over...if your handing out mid-season awards who are they going too?

My picks:

MVP - Peyton Manning, Colts
Runner up: Drew Brees, Saints

Coach of the Year: Marvin Lewis, Bengals
Runner up: Josh McDaniels, Broncos

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Percy Harvin, Vikings
Runner up: Hakeem Nicks, Giants

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Brian Cushing, Texans
Runner up: Jairus Byrd, Bills

Defensive Player of the Year: Jared Allen, Vikings
Runner up: Dwight Freeney, Colts

I know Byrd had 7 INT's and has been great but Cushing has been amazing for Houston. Maybe it's because Indy is in the AFC South as well, but i've seen a lot of Cushing and he is a heck of a player. I think the other ones are self explanatory for the most part.

Well the only teams who aren't half way thru the year yet are Denver and Pittsburgh.

So far this is how I see the NFC.

East
Dallas: defence wasn't very good in the first two games, but has been getting better every week. They have some good weapons on offence too. Look like a good playoff bet as they have a good conference record of 5-1 so far. 2 more against the Skins, plus a game against the Raiders gives them an inside track to 9 wins, and 10 could be enough to take this Division.

Philly: The Eagles still have issues on the O-line and unless they fix that I can't see them being anything more than a Wild Card team. What they do have in their favor is that a 9-7 record possibly is good enough to get to the playoffs this year.

New York Giants: Well after they got all their easy games out of the way, the real teams have brought them back to Earth. A lot of injuries in the secondary and they've been inconsistant on offence. I think they're a 8 win team as they're going backwards right now.

Washington Red Skins: It seems like every week things get worse for the Red Skins. They get a game against the Raiders, and thats really the only game left that they could win.

South
New Orleans: They remind me a bit of the 2003 Cheifs who started out 10-0 and winning largely with their ability to outscore other teams. The last 3 weeks they've had to come back to win their games (a bit like that Chiefs team did too). Eventually they'll run into another team who doesn't let them off the hook. Still they'll win this Division quite easily and won't finish any worse than 13-3.

Atlanta: Falcons losses have all been tough games on the road. Turner has been getting it going these past couple weeks. I don't think they'll win the Division, but I like them to get the #5 seed and first Wild Card and post a record of 11-5.

Carolina: After a terrible start the Panthers have shown signs of being the team they were last year of late. Delhomme is still a bit sketchy and they have enough tough games left that I can't see them being better than 7-9.

Tampa Bay: Well they'll win at least 1 game this year. The second half will be all about Josh Freeman and getting him ready for next year. Who knows if things go well they end up with 3 wins, but I think it'll end up being 2.

NORTH
Minnesota: So far I've been surprised with Farve, than again I didn't know the extent of his injuries at the end of last year when his arm looked dead. They're right there with the Saints for best team in the NFC, and they have a lot of big name game changer types. They win this Division easy and will be the 2 seed at worst.

Green Bay: They can put up some nice looking stats and numbers on offence. But what they don't put up enough of are good ol wins. The Defence too has pretty stats, but not such good results. I think they're an 8-8 team as they have a few tough games remaining yet.

Chicago: Cutler also puts up nice stats and wows you with his talents. But he doesn't rack up the wins, and thats the only thing that counts. Without Urlacher the defence is pretty suspect and the better offensive teams are roasting them. 7 or 8 wins is where the Bears end up.

Detroit: They've already won so they're better than last year. They do get Cleveland later in the year so maybe they get #2. But this team is still a ways off.

WEST
Arizona: Evidently the Cardinals would like their Stadium to be foreclosed and be forced to play on the road every week. They are the epitome of jekyl and hyde. One week they look like a team who barely lost the Superbowl, the next...they look like a 9-7 team who won a lousy Division to make the playoffs and was getting killed when they lost. They might be 9-7 again this year, and that will get them back to the playoffs as West Division champion.

San Francisco: The Niners end results show that they've been competitive in 7 of their 8 games. Problem is they've only won 3 of those. They do tend to play consistantly week to week, problem is they haven't won enough. I think things do ease up a bit for the in the second half so maybe they can make a run at the Cards for the Division. I think they'll finish 8-8 and a game back.

Seattle: Seahawks hoped to compete for the Division, but they're 0-2 against the teams they'd need to beat to realistically win it. They still don't have much of a running game and the injuries have piled up. They'll do well to win 7 games this year.

St.Louis: Well the bad teams this year have got to play each other enough that they all got at least one win. Stephen Jackson is the offence, and after him theres pretty much nothing on this team. They're in tough to win another game this year. Funny thing is that 1 win could see them tied with 2 or 3 other teams for worst record.

Another solid game for the Cowboys. I'm thrilled with how they're doing so far.

Its what happens when you rid a team of malcontents and problem children.

Owens, Jones and Johnson being gone, is the single biggest reason that club is looking as good as they are. no drama to distract from their task at hand.

I can't imagine any other NFL team being interested in claiming that contract, given his off field reputation. Someone will give him a second chance, and he might actually do something with it. But the Chiefs being where they are need to get that guy out of their dressing room.

Hard to say if anyone will take LJ or not? I didn't think anyone would want the bad PR with Vick and he had no problems getting a job. I'm not sure how much of LJ's drop in production was him and how much is the zone blocking scheme that Haley is using. The Cardinals under Haley couldn't run the ball either, I believe they were last in the league in rushing last season. Despite that LJ is still going to be a shell of his former self. The Chiefs won't miss him one bit.

I think his contract guarantees him a certain salary ($2.5 million, I think) regardless if he's deactivated, suspended, etc.

I don't think any team will claim him on waivers, but I can see a team signing him. *cough* Browns *cough*

I know it's still 6 days away but i'm really looking forward to Colts/Patriots (obviously).

Another big test for Indy. With the depleted secondary, the rookie cornerbacks will continue to have to play well against Moss.

That game aside........

Steelers/Broncos should go down to the wire.

I got the Steelers by 3.

Not sure if Johnson would be a guy Mangini could stand. Although he would seem the type of runner who's similar to Jamal Lewis. Still Mangini I think has similarities to Haley and Pioli coming out of the Parcells/Bellichick tree of coaches so I don't think LJ is their type of player. Not really sure where he could end up, maybe a team like the Jets might eye him up given the injury to Thomas Jones. He's a power runner, who needs to be on a team who's going to grind it out behind a good O-Line. Maybe a guy like Rex Ryan can keep him in check.

I'm not sure why the Browns would want LJ at all. They're in the middle of a terrible season and someone like LJ isn't going to make a difference with that roster. Plus if you're the Browns, do you really want a malcontent on a team that's as messed up as the Browns?

If I'm the Browns I finish the year, fire Mangini, throw money and power (full personnel decision authority) at one of the big name coaches available (Shannahan, Cowher, Gruden, Dungy or even Holmgren) and plan on rebuilding for real this time. Take the lottery pick, trim all the fat (most of the roster aside from a couple OL) and don't trade for anymore former Jets.

If Lerner keeps Mangini around just because of his contract, he's going to go through this same crap until even Cleveland fans start to boycott the games.
