MSNBC: 12 dead, 31 injured in Fort Hood (Texas) shooting at military base
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33678801...me_and_courts/
Apparently there are three gunmen (2 of them are still on the loose). They shot at policemen and the SWAT teams among others.
EDIT: More info released:
A U.S. soldier opened fire Thursday at Fort Hood, Texas, killing at least 11 people and wounding 31 others, military officials said. The gunman was shot to death, and two other soldiers were in custody. Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general of the Army’s III Corps, who briefed President Barack Obama on the shootings, said the gunman used two handguns.
NBC News’ Pete Williams reported that a U.S. official identified the gunman as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan, who was 39 or 40.

CNN is covering it - have they already checked in the attic and in any cardboard boxes?

That's either too soon or already outdated. I'm not sure which.

3 shooters? The hell?
As a gamer this worries me that Modern Warfare 2 will be banned because of this. Am I insensitive for thinking this?

3 seperate shooters together on the worlds largest military base and one that houses up to 100,000 military personel is very concerning.
Thats a conspiracy...rather than an isolated incident. The shooters were US soldiers as well. So now this thing gets a little more creepy.
All deaths in what they call a soldier readiness facility where they get folks ready to ship out.

I'd be shocked if this incident doesn't bring more attention to Call of Duty's controversial aspect. For those curious, the game apparently involves the shooting of innocent hostages in a terorist plot (perpetrated by the player).
This reminds me of the Fifth Estate episode I saw last week on military post traumatic stress disorder. Not saying that's what happened here, but there are some very messed up soldiers out there.

I would say yes, yes you are.
Could be upwards of 20 people dead, all innocents, all shot down in cold blood and yet your biggest concern is that a certain video game may not be released due to said deaths.
I hope your were posting in jest dude, it is a freakin video game..
Video game or human life? Why does life have to present us with these hard choices?

I think the Hells Angels was formed by veteran soldiers off WWII.
I read it a long time ago, so I might be wrong.

Oh get off of your moral high horse. Really? What do you want me to do? Not purchase the game in respect to those that died?
It wasn't a bad question, but one that may be better served for another thread.. These type of occurrences do put a spotlight on entertainment that may be related to a real life incident.
Remember after Columbine, the media was all over the Matrix because they wore black trench coats while shooting machine guns?
Now a hugely popular military shoot-em-up will be released in 5 days, it was a simple question and it wouldn't surprise me if there will be stories about the game in relation to today's incident come out.
Please relax..
Anyways, the shooter was a Army Mental health professional.. wtf

The truth is, for virtually everyone on this forum, we can't relate to this massacre as being anything more than a statistic. Sadly, the possibility of a delay in the release of a video game would be the only tangible impact this incident could have on most people. And that is why certain elements of society, such as Jack Thompson, will jump all over this to push their agendas.
Regardless, it may be too soon for such a debate anyway. Whether or not we can appreciate it, this is a great tragedy for at least 43 families.

I kind of doubt it.
I've heard both sides get pretty extreme, but I'd be willing to bet no one will go with either of the following
Pro gun control: "This is why soldiers shouldn't have guns"
Anti gun control: "This would never happen, if soldiers were allowed to carry guns"
Just don't see it happening.
