You know what's one car, I really wish that we could buy in NA? The Skoda.
I know they used to be crap during commie rule, but they have a great history (one of the oldest car companies ever, dating back to the 1890s) and ever since they were bought by VW in the early 90s, they've been offering some really nice cars. They use the same technology and teutonic cues as Golfs/Passats etc, but in a more affordable version (and from what I hear are more reliable and have less overall ownership costs than the VWs). They are all over Europe these days, and drive really well. Hell, a Skoda Fabia Diesel beat a Mini on the racing track in one version of Top Gear.

Whilst Chrysler still has deplorable reliability, Nissan, Suzuki, BMW, Mercedes Benz (although this is changing very quickly), VW/Audi are all brands with mediocre/bad reliability.
And yeah, I see a lot of fleet Camrys these days...

Can't wait. I got to drive an Audi A3 in Spain a few weeks ago as my rental car....in the US I wouldve gotten some crappy Chevy Cobalt for the same price. It's always annoyed me that it's almost impossible to rent any foreign cars here....unless you use a specialty service like Zipcar.

My car is in the shop getting repairs from a break in, so I've been given a Corolla for the week. Not a bad car, but really boring. I've been reminded of why reliable, economical, A to B cars don't do it for me. I'm sure I'd feel the same way about a Ford.

Well comparing a Corolla (specific model) to Ford (an entire brand of cars/trucks) makes no sense at all.
How about a 500+HP GT500? I think that might do it for you lol.

I noticed that a couple of years ago that Ford was pretty much putting one vehicle in each category and not making 2-3 or even 4 of the same vehicle to compete against themselves like Chrysler and GM were. In a way they were mimicking what Toyota, and Honda have been doing for years. Make one vehicle and if you do a good job of it people will buy them. It seems simple but for some reason these other guys never really caught on to that idea.

Hey the CTS is a nice car, but it's one of the very rare American cars that's tuned for driving around corners. Out of all the sports cars out there, how many are just built on pure muscle in a straight away? Vipers, Camaros, Mustangs.....
Fyi, the Panamera now owns that record I believe.

The ZR1 Corvette and Ford GT will both handle the track very well. Compared to the competition these cars are the best bang for the buck.

My wife's SVT focus handles plenty good compared to its honda, toyota, etc... peers. But ford did drop the ball by discontinuing a performace model of the focus. As another poster pointed out, the european focus RS is the car that I'd love to see them bring to NA or at least mimic a version out of their Hermosillo plant.
Even the handling numbers of a stock mustang GT blow the doors off all european cars in their price range and are only beat by the big dollar M3's and AMG mercedes models.
I do agree that the GT500 is not ideal for handling yet is more capable than what 95% of drivers can handle.

I bought my wife a focus, and she loves it. It handles great. Some
civic lovers even told me that if you put an H on the focus, you could
sell it for $6000 more.

This certainly has some truth to it but it's also a common misconception. You've mentioned Top Gear so I am sure you saw the Top Gear America Muscle Cars Road Trip. The quote "Well done fat man from Kentucky, this is a masterpiece" kind of argues your point. However, it also shows how bad America cars can handle (Challenger).
Now given, this is the opinion of TV show and these are the best America has to offer but I think some credit is due.
