Default Hitman vs. Rockets 10/28

What a Goon Show Calgary exhibited last night in Kelowna. The cheap shots and attempts to injure were totally uncalled for and totally unsportsmanlike. Beach will receive one game suspension for his 5-minute elbowing major, but should receive 3 to 5 games. Williamson should be disciplined for sending the goons out to hurt players.
At least the refereeing was equally atrocious!
At least the better team won! (again!)
Heads up Feb. 19th - Kelowna will show you pain!

Heckuva game for Jones last night. Gotta get the offence back on track though. Been tough scoring goals the last couple games.

Rough game so far in Chilliwack. Hitmen taking stupid penalties, and getting burned for it. Apparently you can push the goalie into his net to score a goal now though.

3-2 Bruins after 2.

Hitmen pick up Del Cowan from the PG Cougars in exchange for a conditional 8th round pick. He seems like another of those middling forwards that help the team out but don't impact the game much - based on his stats, at any rate. Anyone know more about him?

Cowan is a fairly decent pker. Not much more than a 3rd liner. I am surprised by the move as I thought they would looking for an overage defenceman. The move also gives them 26 players, so either a couple of younger guys are going back down or maybe they will package a couple of kids up for a defenceman.

It will be interesting to see what Swift and Vancouver do with their injured overagers (Nunn and Tassone) and to see who gets their walking papers.

Rumor has it that the Hitmen have released overage forward Cody Gross.

Hitmen comeback to beat the Oil Kings 3-2 tonight. 2 goals in the final 90 seconds to win.

The hot-cold act is getting frustrating with this team. Generally very good in the first to generally pretty awful in the second, and back the other way. Gotta smooth that out a bit more.

The Hitmen have indeed released Cody Gross, leaving them with only two overagers. Lethbridge now has four overagers and three imports, with the acquisition of Dustin Donaghy. Radim Valchar would probably be pretty cheap, since he's apparently on the outs with the 'Canes, according to http://smallatlarge.blogspot.com

He was quite good for Portland last year. Has he been as bad for Lethbridge as his stats suggest?

I hope they leave Valchar alone. Swift Current has 20 year olds that I am interested in, they just need Tassone to be healthy and then they have 2 weeks to move someone.

He has been worse.

Two goals in his first game.

Useless in every other one.

Hitmen lead Speedy Creek 4-2 tonight. Another sluggish start in the first for the Hitmen but really turned it on in the 2nd.

Hitmen manage to keep winning games. We still haven't seen a full 60 out of them yet. They'll be pretty darn scary when they start putting full games together. Still, 16-5 is a pretty darn good record.

I heard the other night that they're only 1 point off last years pace...

Wow are the Saskatoon Blades for real? Classmate of mine plays for them and hopefully he gets drafted. Haven't got to see them play..so any input on the Blades would be nice.

The Blades were a good team last year, and young enough that most players were coming back. Their success was expected.

It helped that it was the Broncos third game in three nights. You could tell that they wanted to build a big lead in the first, which Snider prevented, before they ran out of gas.
