Seems pretty relevant given the last few posts, stumpbled upon this little tidbit this morning.
Quote:
Hutchinson has not missed a game in that time, meaning he went 97 starts (91 regular-season games, six playoffs) without being called for a hold.....
By my count, Hutchinson has been called for three (accepted) penalties in four-plus seasons and 57 games since joining the Vikings in 2006. He was called for a false start on Sept. 16, 2007 in an overtime loss at Detroit, making it the first accepted penalty against him since Nov. 14, 2004 and ending a 44-game streak without a penalty.
He then started another streak that went 37 games, including the postseason, without another penalty until the Pittsburgh game.

I can't in good conscience think about my Pro Bowl team until December. Too much football to be played. I will grace you all with it at that time.

I had to be creative in some of my picks as I'll admit I don't pay much attention to AFC Center play, etc. So you may see the occasional Saints/LSU/Montana school homer picks...
Too early to pick the true team, and of course injuries will make a difference.

He's been god-awful for the Ravens. I've watched quite a few Ravens games and he always seems to be getting burned.

Its so players have plenty of time to fake an injury near the end of the season so that they have a built in excuse not to go to such a BS event.

I guess I've always thought he was underappreciated at his other stops along the way. I'll sub in Leon Hall from the Bengals...

Maybe Pioli is finally realizing that you can't build a winner around cut players from a former dynasty. Hey the Chiefs may stink, but maybe, just maybe, a player or two on the team that didn't play for the Patriots has a bit of skill as well. Hopefully this move is Pioli turning the corner.

More hate talk between teh Jets and Dolphins. I love it.
To score a touchdown in New York against the Jets in the last time I'll be in the hellhole they call a stadium up there before they get rid of it and move to the new one," Jason Taylor said, "it was outstanding."
The problem I have is with the Jets fans," Taylor said. "It's not really a problem; it's kind of this rivalry that has gone on, and they love to hate me, and I love to hate them, and we've had some fun over the years. They've had a lot of fun at my expense. I've had some fun at their expense at times.
"It's the times like this where you beat them and they just keep talking. They just keep going, and they just don't know when to be quiet.
"You know, I've said a lot of things about Jets fans in the past, and I’m sure at heart they're good people. Most of them are good people. The Giants fans are a different type of people. Just put it that way. There's a little more class on the Giants' side, and some Jets fans take the 'c-l' out of class."

Good article about the very likely chance that all of Jacksonville's home games will be blacked out this year. Los Angeles Jaguars doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Whats up with it being before Super Bowl week this year? If I'm coach of a Super Bowl team and my player is voted in, he would not be participating in that event.

They figured by doing it before the Superbowl it would get more fan attention. Players from the teams in the Superbowl won't be participating in the game. I think it will likely eliminate players from the teams who lost the Conference Championships too as they'll likely be too banged up to play. Realistically football isn't a game to have an Allstar game. Allstar games are better suited to sports like Basketball, or Baseball in my opinion.

If you watched the Monday night game this week, you may have heard Jon Gruden mention the mouthpieces that the Saints were wearing.
Apparently, many Saints swear by them being able to improve performance, and for $2,000 each, thay had better do something!
Saints put their money where their mouths are:
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...7429686.column
Quote:
Regardless, Porter does wear one, and he and other proponents of the device -- the Makkar PPM (Pure Power Mouthguard) -- swear that, for them, it's worth the investment.
"If there's 2%, 5%, any percent of benefit, and it's good for your safety, who are we kidding?" NFL coach-turned-broadcaster Jon Gruden said. "This is a game of inches, man."
|
Quote:
The PPM, based on neuromuscular dentistry, is designed to align the lower jaw in an optimal position and thereby help align the rest of the body.
"When the jaw is down and forward, the back of your neck starts aligning with the back of your spine," said Dr. Anil Makkar, a dental surgeon who developed the product in 2006. "When you have total alignment you have increased strength, balance, range of motion, and an increase in flexibility and endurance."

Ugh, Hagler and Jackson are now gone for the season for Indy. The defense will face a test with a few 3rd string guys in.

Looks like Moise Fokou will be the first NFL player from Cameroon to start a game this weekend. He's taking over at strong-side linebacker for the Eagles. Chris Gocong is out for the game (Dis, you may remember that name from his days at Cal-Poly). Fokou looked good in preseason and on special teams this year, but the Eagles are going to really miss Gocong against the run.

The NFL wanted to try and make it more relevant so they decided to make it into a Superbowl week festivity.
I think it is stupid, and you have taken away the one real NFL event Hawaii could participate in and going to a tropical paradise was at least some incentive for a player to attend.

Pro Bowl is a joke anyway. I went to one in Hawaii, but it just happened to be on while I was in Hawaii. A game played where phiscal play is a requirement should never have a pro bowl game. Hockey can because they choose not to hit, you cannot choose not to hit in football and still have a game.

I think the NFL fully dropped the ball by putting the game the week before the Super Bowl. I think it takes alot of the focus away from the Super Bowl, even though the Pro Bowl is a joke.
Having in in Hawaii is a way to reward the players that win the popularity contest. And allows them and their families to enjoy Hawaii as a tropical destination.
Now having a Pro Bowl without the players on the two Super Bowl teams? Even more boring than before. Don't get me wrong, I never watch the Pro Bowl, but there are plenty of people that enjoy it.

Hard to believe any football fan actually enjoys watching it. Totally agree on the Hawaii thing. If the NHL/NBA wernt so short sighted they would do it out there as well. Great location to showcase the event in 2 sports where the game can be mildly fun to watch.

Colts just got demolished by injuries on defense this week.
While I get that Sanders is a big difference maker in that scheme, when does one label him as the Human Band-Aid??

No kidding. Please officially strip him of any type of complimentary title. The guy simply cannot stay healthy. When he's on the field, he's dynamite, but that's a wash when it's 2-3 games a year.
