I believe in the Jays.

Just watched the debut, not bad I thought. Decent premise, nuclear level hotty cast, acting seemed a bit stiff but it usually does in premiers so no big worries.
It's a conspiracy show so I'm not sure how long it can run without getting tired... I hope the producers have a series arc already planned out and stick to it. Shows like this need to have that or else they just peter out and die.

Thought it was ok, not great but not bad. Stargate Universe is a better Sci-Fi series right now, but I'll probably try and catch a few more of these before I write it off.

From a character development standpoint I thought it was well done. they took some nice elements from the original show including the indoctrination of the young into a V (Nazi) youth.
The dialogue was a little woody, however I think the aliens were suppossed to be that way.
We know who the collaberators are going to be, we know that there are religeous implications at work (is the pope a lizard man? he seemed awfully quick to accept the aliens)
I was shocked to see the FBI agent die so quickly, but I'm sure that we'll see his face on a visitor soon.
Is Anna really the leader of the alien race?
Is she going to ram her psuedo pod down Scott Wolfe's throat and lay eggs in his chest while screaming that she's not an alien.
Tune in next week to see.

I couldn't remember where the alien leader was from (duh), thanks to those who pointed it out.
For me, it was good mindless fun. I remember the original series, but didn't watch much of it (but loved it as a kid).
I have set the PVR for record for now - we'll see how it goes.

That short hair looks horrible. You guys should have seen her at the Calgary Comic Expo. Super tight jeans and long hair! HOT!
V was a total disappointment for me. The production values felt like it was a CBC/CTV series. Acting was terrible. The cast from Lost must be amazing because that Juliet chick is a terrible actress.
I'll give it one more episode but i guess we have all been spoiled by how great the effects are on Lost and Heroes. This just looked cheap.

I've gotta admit, as a Fringe fan, the FBI agent comes off as Olivia Dunham light: proficient and independent blonde who's betrayed by her partner in the pilot.
To me, the writing was a bit weak: it seemed to eager to quickly lay down exactly where all the lines of who the groups involved are. It could have more effectively taken three or four episodes to get to where it is now. There was too much of a feeling of not wanting to confuse the viewer or give them too much uncertainty to deal with.

You essentially took the words right out of my mouth (er... keyboard?)
Basically the pilot seemed like way too much exposition--just a bunch of information about the future plot awkwardly shoehorned into wooden dialogue and contrived scenes.
But.... I'll be watching the next one anyway. I'm a sucker like that.

I was a little thrown off by the Visitors already on earth, especially MC... thought the two FBI agents had some sexual tension going, didn't see the dude being a bad guy coming at all... and the teenaged son is useless IMO.
Having said that, I enjoyed the first episode. I do agree that they could have played out the friendliness a little longer. Would have made for a nice swerve later in the season, but I understand why they did it, due to being a remake et all.
Very interested in seeing how things play out with the series. Not only internally with the characters, but the lifespan of the show as well.

Reading this line, and looking at your signature made me so proud. Took me back to MST3K: The Movie... "But, I'm not an alien".

This show really reminded me more of The 4400 than anything else. Wasn't the minister in that one...and maybe the black guy too?
EDIT: Just read that the show is executive produced by the creator of The 4400, which would explain a lot.
Is it just me, or are new shows nowadays just mish-mashes of actors/ideas/concepts from other popular shows? The Lost cast sure does seem to get around.

And to me that was exactly what I liked about this. The show assumes you have seen the other series(es) from the 80's, and this is a re-write. The story moved more in one episode than 4 episodes of Lost.
I just don't like some of the plot oversights:
- the expectation of pulling back a chunk of skin to determine lizard or not? Why not use a $25 drug store thermometer? Or something less intrusive.
- In the 80's version it was just a bunch of people in the resistance. Here we have an FBI agent; who has access to a Visitor's corpse. Couldn't she find a higher up she can trust, take it to him, and he goes to the President?
- The briefing about "no hard questions" comes with seconds before they go live?
- The fact that the Visitors never want to name their species? Or that nobody asks? Even in the 60's the writers for Star Trek come up with the idea that Spock's first name could not be pronounced by humans.
- No outrage about the Vs coming in and wrecking the place. They caused millions of dollars damage to each of 30 cities; killing people in the process. Why not bring down 1 ship; introduce yourselves, and then tell everybody to lock up the valuables as they bring down the other 29.

They didn't know enough about the Lizard men to know if they're cold blooded. For all we know they might be red blooded warm blooded lizard men. Plus gently inserting a thermometer in their mouths and then taking it out and shaking it like mamma before making a read makes for bad T.V.. Unless you're talking anal thermometers which makes for porn.

This made a lot of sense to me, but I read into things. At that point when they realized that the Aliens were infiltrating human society, and one of the visitors was her partner, then who do you trust? Remember man is inherently paranoid and I doubt that the President is going to allow them to peel his skull back. I still flash back that the vatican had sent out an edict that the Aliens were a part of gods plans awfully quickly.

That made sense to me, first and foremost they knew that Scott Wolfe would probably sell out, and if they had sent a briefing several hours before he likely wouldn't have shown up. Then they threatened to cancel the interview and watched the reporter fold his tent over his career. Plus surrounded by aliens in an intimidating setting. This made sense to me.

I don't think this is a big deal is it? I've always liked the aliens calling themselves the visitors, it makes sense.

I remember in the original series that the vistors parked over the cities for several days before they made their announcements which I thought would have been a better day to create a freak factor. A lot of things were way to rushed. In the original it took several episodes before they started chipping away at the human masks. I also remember one of the brilliant things in the first one was that the visitors created a phoney scientist plot and started arresting them, I would like to see this here.
At the end of the day going back to your point, they did touch on the fact that there were anti alien protests, but for the most part the visitors did apologize for the damage that they caused during Anna's first speech to humanity then started offering new new technology at low low prices including miracle healing centers.
Whats a few crashed planes and crushed houses to curing 65 of the deadliest diseases known to man?

What was the point of the plane crashing and the pilot falling to the ground? other than that it totally looked fake.

When the fighters approached the mother ship their electrical systems failed. It was to show their invulnerability to earths weapons I suppose.
Now if we ran at them with boards with nails in them, we'd totally kick their green scaly a$$e$

I don't know, they seemed to have some mad fighting skills when they raided the meeting.
Maybe we can slip into one of their ships and install Windows XP and just wait...

Wouldn't it be far worse if we upgraded them to Millenium.
