Default How to fix a dishwasher

So my diswasher is about 6 years old. And it is starting to spray out fine particles of food which then dry onto dishes. I have gone through the sprayer arms and those appear clean. Where else could this food be coming from and what is the best way to clean it.

What brand? If a Whirlpool, 99% it's your pump that broke. It's about $300 to repair.

Buy a new one. At $300 to repair - including parts and service call(s) - less than 2 repairs would pay for a new one.

Buy a new one or call a plumber/repairman who knows what he's doing. Life's too short to frustrate yourself with that ****.

Could be a drainage issue as well - is there a noticeable amount of water left in the bottom when you open the door? My dishwasher did this about a year ago and it ended up being a blockage in the drainage line and thankfully not a blown pump - which is what the service tech my wife called said it was.

When troubleshooting appliances, start with the simplest, least expensive possibility first and work your way up. There are a lot of do-it-yourself guides for this kind of thing on the internet; here is one of them.

Wha? He's making a joke about wives.

I think some children should be in the work force, though... who would milk the clam's juice for Clamatoⓒ with out their tiny little fingers on the clam's tiny little teats?

Good advice, here's another forum about DIY home stuff : http://www.diychatroom.com/index.php there might be something already on there, or you could sign up and ask. I have found plenty of useful info on that site.

The pump is working properly it is just spraying dirt everywhere. I will dig into the draining issue as that could be it.

Call the guy.

I also like the chocolate-and-flowers idea.

No, it can still be the pump, because what's happening is that it's not draining all the dirty water. Early 2000-era Whirlpools are notorious for this.

Do you have a macerator in your dishwasher? Perhaps that is full of gunk as well.

OP said his dishwasher was 6 years old in the first post. So the unfunny joke about wives/girlfriends became the unfunny joke about some 6 year old girl washing dishes.
