Pre-drinking.

Never heard it called pre-gaming, although that does make for some interesting Guitar Hero.

Regardless how much you spend at a bar, I'm more curious to find out if you guys are awesome tippers at a bar.

I've honestly never hear either term. I just call it "tanking up". Or "breakfast".

You wouldn't be getting such heat if you didn't come off as a complete dick. There's nothing wrong with having a few before going out. It's not necessarily about being cheap, some people like to have a few because or else they'll end up trashed after having 4 or 5 at the bar. Pacing yourself is important sometimes.
As for money, well, good for you if you dont like to drink. Some poeple do, and some people don't want to spend $150 at the bar when they could spend $20 at home and then $50 at the bar and then have cab fare home.

Whoop-de-fawkin-do that you only go to the bar every 4 months. Some people enjoy the company of others, and when others are going to the bar, well...

So, yeah... Glad you posted. Thanks for calling me cheap. Glad I wont see your wet-blanket-ass at the bar tonight.

I put some serious thought into this last night while drinking, and have settled on pre-drinking. It may not be technically correct, but I prefer the way it sounds.

Bar prices are ridiculous. With tip, its like $7-8 for some watered down hi-ball that takes you about 6 seconds to finish. Pregaming is essential I think. Besides, that's one of the best parts of the night. I love going over to a buddy's place before the bar, and watching the game or having a big NHL '09 tournament or something while havin a few pops, then everyone piling into the taxi van all sh*ttered, tryin to sneak stuff in. It's hilarious!

Now it's time to hop in the shower and get ready so I can go get my preGAME on(none of that dirty Edmonton pre-drinkin for me). She's game day!

For once my response to a person was the sensible one.

Even though I thought your opinion was dead wrong I refrained from making personal judgments about you based on your post.

It was the other people that flipped out.

It's usually called predrinking here, and at McGill "predrinking" is of course, necessary for all activities.

Going to the bar with me tonight? Better predrink.
Going to that club on St-Laurent? Better predrink.
Going to that public lecture on exobiology? Better predrink.

I always heard pre-drinking as well, but always assumed it was short for something like

Pre-going-out drinking.... shortened to pre-drinking.

One of the greatest scenes of all time involving "pregaming". (Pregaming feels more appropriate in this instance.)

You are assuming that beers are under $6, you aren't even taking to account cover, coat check, or tipping. You are also assuming that you will only be buying drinks for yourself, not for any of your friends.

At a good club, bringing $100 and getting 10 beers is reasonable.

Never heard the term pre-drinking used in my group of friends.

It was, is and always shall be pre-gaming.
