Default Is this false advertising? Or something similar?

So here's the story: the roommate taking care of the internet moved out and left a month of internet left. At the time, we called TELUS to transfer the account over to me, and were told that it would actually be better for him to finish the contract so I could start fresh with the same deal ($20/month). So I paid him the $20 for the last month, and called today to arrange for it to not shut off at the end of the month. The guy I talked to, though, said I had been misquoted, and the best he could do is $25/month unless I bought a bundle deal.

Wouldn't be a problem, except we were specifically told it would be $20/month by a customer service representative. Are they not under any obligation to follow through on their promises?

At the end of the day, I'm not super upset. It's only $5/month extra. It won't break the bank. I just wish I could trust what I'm told will hold true tomorrow and the next day.

The other thing is I opened saying what I had been told (20/month), and he said yes, ok, right, and set up the whole thing. It wasn't until he asked if there was anything else he could help me with that I asked to double check the deal I was getting and he told me it was 25/month

Maybe talk to Shaw and see if they can offer something less than $25? I've found the only thing to do is play them off each other to get the best deal.

Maybe. I've already agreed to it, though. The deal on Shaw's website is actually higher, which is why I said ok even though I would prefer Shaw. I've had excellent dealings with Shaw in the past.
