www.alldj.org

If you like dance music this is by far the best site to download any live dj sets/broadcasts from the best DJs worldwide. Various genres are listed on the left side and if you know any of the DJs just follow their link on the right or bottom of the page.

2nd of all, yep. There is way more to DJing than simply gathering a good list of music and hitting random.
Each song should be carefully picked to follow the previous. You gotta play thriller (probably only once), the song after thriller is equally important. People will come onto the dancefloor to dance to thriller. What is going to keep them there?
The energy of the night has to continue building or stay the same. Switching from a 80's song to a new hip hop song can ruin that energy. a good dj will morph the two songs into each other with songs inbetween
If you could I would look into hiring a DJ for the night.

sticking to songs people know is a good idea if you are just going the itunes route. Of course you gotta expand on that a little, just don't go too extreme and make it a indie themed music night.

I'll post some recommendations later today when I get a chance.
This would be awesome! Thanks, Man!

I've found that Daft Punk's Alive 2007 album was solid all the way through for some techno if you need it.

Isn't Kim Mitchell the go to guy for bartenders to cue up when they flick on the lights and want to get people to vacate the premises?

He has made me want to shred my passport in a fit of shame many times. Don't even make me pull out 'Go for a soda' as exhibit B.

He is a bad man.

LOL - maybe it's a generational thing (without knowing your age in relation to mine...)

Patio Lanterns was always one of those slowish kind of songs that everyone knew and you could makeout to back in the day that wasn't awful.

Now if you had mentioned "I Am A Wild Party" then I coulda backed you up 100%!!!

If you're going to play Kim Mitchell, play Go For A Soda, far better than boring ole Patio Lanterns.

Also not sure if anyone mentioned

Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr
