but he isnt using it for business. if the person he hired was using his vehicle then it would be but the insured person here is the person thats hosting the party and owns the vehicle. If anything were to happen then his insurance would cover, has nothing to do with the driver, if you lend your car out, or hire someone to run some errands you would have coverage.

Normally wouldn't be a big deal but there will be a lot of idiots who aren't as responsible as the OP and try to get away driving drunk...
What would be the story I should give if I hit a checkstop? Driving a buddy's car I guess would work.

I would think that if a cop stopped you and you told him what you were doing there wouldn't be an issue. He might call the owner (you might want to have his contact info on hand) to confirm his permission to use his car but usually those guys are just happy that your driving those people home vs them driving.

She also wasn't all that keen on me driving home drunk chicks. If only I could explain to her that I was doing it for the $$$ haha.

What's this thing you call "courts" and "lawsuits"? 
You are paying said driver to actually be "security" at the party, he offered to drive people home so they get home safe. Sounds like nothing more than a nice guy, nothing illegal or against an insurance policy for that.

That's one way to paint it. Another way is to say you hired someone as a driver and entered into a short term lease for use of your vehicle.
Odds are it doesn't come to the point of courts being involved, but if it does it's not all that simple.

Call your insurance company, and contact a lawyer to see if by chance a girl in the car said you molested her and see how that stands in court. LOL Common sense people, common sense.

I was thinking of doing this last eyar but my buddy in law school advised against it becasuse of some legal mumbo jumbo where you could be held liable in the event of something happening.
Can any lawyer confirm this?

Then the OP could have his claim denied. Unless you specifically tell your insurance company that you will be using your car to hire people to run errands or even delivering pizza for that matter then your claim can be denied.
You're allowed to lend your car out and your insurance will still cover any claims unless the person who you lent it to got compensation in any way.
