She calls me today and tells me she has H1N1. I am showing no signs or symptoms. Does anyone know how long I would carry the virus before starting to feel it? I am really hoping I dodged a bullet here.
Further to all that, I'm predicting a significant spike in H1N1 cases among young people sometime next week, for several reasons.

A) Halloween is on a Saturday night, something of an anomaly in that it only happens about once or twice in a decade.
B) Recession-era drink prices will increase consumption of alcohol, consequently lowering inhibitions significantly.
C) The alarming and continuing climb in Slutty Costume Percentages among females, which will lead to both more advances (and increased alcohol consumption) and possibly multiple intimate encounters, spreading the virus through mouth to mouth contact.

I also predict at least one enterprising fellow will have a costume that consists of a sign saying "I had it in August. I'm safe".

Sure, vaccines can be effective.
But I dont get vaccines for pretty much anything and ive never been sick, so I dont see the point. I feel much better being healthy and not getting injected.

Are you serial? That's what you're doing lol. The media has given a voice to the assinine position that vaccines are bad. It's not even debateable yet here we are listening to all this foolishness from people not wanting to protect themselves and others based on nothing but rumours and misinformation.

I think you watched too much x-files growing up there foxmulder. It's not a conspiracy to inject you with anything other than protection against a bad case of the flu.

oh so years and years before this flu even existed you weren't getting flu shots and you weren't getting sick? well, that proves it, you are now impervious to all sickness.

I have not bothered listening to much from the media about H1N1, so its my own opinion.

You can have your opinion and inject yourself to prevent something that wont kill you.

Ill stick with my opinion.

Measles is already back in the UK. I suspect Polio will be back big time in the US.

I wonder what those parents that were so afraid of their precious snowflakes getting 'sick' from the vaccine thought when their kid dropped dead from Measles.

My opinion is based on scientific evidence and research. What are you basing your opinion on?

You know, this is the part of the information age that is unfortunate. You guys that are going around undermining the hard work and good intentions of some great scientists that are working to save lives and prevent you from getting sick are doing us all a great disservice.

You moron. Even if you didn't die, why would you want to catch it and then possibly hand it off to someone who would die?!

People like you don't think. I tell you.

I read that yesterday was he 32nd anniversary of the last case of naturally acquired smallpox. Some backwater in the horn of Africa.

That awful disease had been around for 10,000 years and killed hundreds of millions of people. It was wiped out in a matter of decades after they develop the vaccine. But some people don't think they work. Or even better, are designed to kill us.

If you somehow, god forbid, caught HIV, would you go on a life-time course of anti-retroviral drugs? Or are they just a ploy by the media and Big Pharma to take your money?
