The Mind=Blown Thread
Sorry if this is a Fata but I thought this would be a cool thread.
The word "bed" actually looks like a bed.
The arrow in the Fed-Ex logo
Anyone else have any mind-blowers?

This has been done to death, but oh well.
I used to think there was a smiley face in the Amazon.com logo, but it actually stands for 'from A to Z'

Whoah! Now it makes sense. I'm going to need to go and dig up some stuff.
The word assassin wasn't invented until Shakespeare created it, for those who didn't know. That's my lame contribution to the thread.

Edmonton is home to a mall with a water park, amusement park, an empty dolphin exhibit, 7 pawn shops and an ice rink.
If only they marketed.

It comes from the middle ages Arabic 'hashishiyyin' which was probably known to Crusaders, written of by Marco Polo, etc. hundreds of years before Shakespeare's time.
I don't see any mention of Shakespeare having anything to do with it's etymology.
http://www.alamut.com/subj/ideologie...etymolAss.html
If you check the OED, Shakespeare probably has one of the earlier written versions of 'Assasination' but just because we have no written of record of a word before some time, it doesn't mean it didn't exist or wasn't coined in parlance.
There are a lot of cool words in english that come from Arabic...like Alcohol (al-kuhul)

The Andromeda galaxy is 2.5 million light years away. Meaning when astronomers look at photographs of it, they are seeing what the galaxy looked like 2.5 million years ago. For all we know the thing could be freaking gone!
also....on Jupiter there exists metallic Hydrogen. The conditions under which this is created are so extreme that it cannot be recreated on earth in any way.

If you've played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the PS1 (or emulator -- and if you haven't played it you should cos it fracking rules) you might know that the lead character, Alucard, is actually Dracula spelled backwards.
that's all i got.
also, "Razor" is apparently not of indigenous canadian descent...but that was probably increasingly obvious as that thread went on

Are you? Cause I am, and I was not aware of this. Probably due to the fact that I never pay attention. It was cool to see the prof dumping liquid nitrogen everywhere though. I got a kick outta that.
If you look at the Fed-Ex logo again, there's a spoon in between the e and the d.

What else should blow your mind is that the galaxy is also 100,000 light years across meaning that we are seeing the edge closest to us 100,000 years before the edge furthest away. We never actually see the galaxy the way it looked completely at one time.
No I'm not in astro207. Yes I took it, in 2002 or something, which now makes me feel very old.
