Default Any good carpeting referrals???

I am carpeting my basement and was wondering if anyone had the name(s) of people/companies that do a good job and are reasonably priced?

Thanks

It all depends on the individual installer. My parents had their place done through Jordan's. It was scary. They ruined 20 oak baseboards, left seams down the middle of the floor and the lino was so poor that it had bubbled. On the other hand I went with cheap old End of the Roll and had a great install team. The job was 10x better than what my parents had. Since some of the carpet places outsource to contractors, it can be hit or miss.

Maybe try checking with the Better Business Bureau if it is still around.

We just had a rug and some vinyl flooring installed by A & B Carpet and they did a fine job.

End of the roll installed my carpet through out the upstairs and did a great job.

I have them coming back on Saturday to install carpet in my basement as well.

Make sure you get someone thats is experienced. Still have bumps in my carpet because some ######bag didn't know what they were doing.

Never pay till the job is completely done also.

Four years ago I found Home Depot to be almost half of what the other carpet stores in Red Deer were. Made my decision pretty easy. Bad thing is it takes up to 6 weeks for installation. If your not in a rush it is worth the savings.

I used "Belliveau and Sons Flooring" - they did an excellent job.

I need to have about a 10 sqft piece of carpet replaced at the bottom of my basement stairs. Any advice for a job so small?

My post from a similar thread........

Their installer did an excellent job. You can't really see the one seam that is in the carpet, and the stairs came out really well.

My only complaint is that they tried to order waaaaaay too much carpet for the job. The installer first measured and came up with 34 square yards, whereas my measurements had put it at 24 square yards. We almost walked, and so they send the installer out. He was complaining about how it was going to be tough, and came back with 28 square yards. At the end of the job there were 3 good size pieces totalling about 4-5 square yards, plus a few others at about 3-4 square feet. (9 sq feet in a sq yard by the way.)

Yes, they can only cut the carpet a cetain way, but my arguement was the other pieces could have been used on the steps, as it doesn't matter if there were seams.

So I would use them again, but next time I would insist on getting a more accurate measurement.
