I'm wearing a brown sweater today and I can't remember the last time I wore a brown sweater. For some reason I've never bought brown clothes except for shoes.

All that stuff you said about the girls and their pity for you and their inflated sense of self importance was just kind of weird, and it seems like you're just reading way too much into them apologizing for cancelling. But again, that's without me knowing any of you, so maybe there was more to it?
Yeah but who cancels plans that never existed? Also, it was the kind of thing where they were trying to humour me and pretend that they wanted to hang out but they obviously didn't. Why do that? If you don't want to hang out just say so. But why treat me like I'm 5 years old and p****foot around the issue if we never had plans in the first place?

It was so weird. They rarely act condescending/patronize me like that.

I'd agree with you that the 2nd girl was not a plan so she canceled nothing. She basically changed her mind and canceled her own plan which never existed. She's acting way too important.

I think for the 1st girl, you called her first and wanted to chill out, so she was just apologizing for not being able to make it even if it wasn't a set-in-stone plan, I don't think that's unreasonable.

I now have the authority and ability to write parking tickets for a small area of my city. I'd like to say I will do my duty in an unbiased manner, but deep down inside I know I took this job to punish people I don't like.

And my crappy week continues. Some ######bag kids egged my car sometime last night. I think kids like that should be fair game for savage beatings, with no legal recourse against the people who deliver the beatings.

Maybe it is the way you tell stories, because I agree with Flameswin.

With the first gal:

As soon as you said sure I would take that as "plans to meet" and she called to apologize about breaking them.

With the second:

That again sounds like you are indicating you thought you had plans, and now she feels bad because she had asked you in the first place and now isn't going to make it.

In both those cases it just sounded to me like they were being considerate.

But then again, you didn't take it that way and you were there so maybe it just didn't translate into your telling of the tale.

Anyone who works with any form of parking authority should have something awful happen to them on a daily basis. People say that telemarketers are the lowest from of employment, I disagree writing parking tickets is the saddest thing a person can do (I realize that this is pretty unreasonable, but I loath parking cops and any form of parking authority).

CBC disagrees also:
Four Stong Winds - Ian and Sylvia
Great song, and I can see the merits of it.

Quote:
In 2005, CBC Radio One listeners chose this song as the greatest Canadian song of all time on the series 50 Tracks: The Canadian Version.
Personally, I am partial to:

Acadian Driftwood - The Band

Even though Levon Helm was the only non-Canadian in the band the story of the song is friggan cool and about early North American history that shaped what was to become Canada.

Quote:
"Acadian Driftwood" is a partly fictional portrayal of an episode in the troubled history of Acadia, the Great Upheaval. The song describes the forcible displacement of the Acadian people after war between the French and the English over what is now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and part of Maine.
Robbie Robertson's lyrics were influenced by Longfellow's poem Evangeline, which describes the deportation of Acadians.
...
Robertson took poetic license with the historical record. Deportations began not when "the war was over", in 1763 after the Treaty of Paris, but in 1755 after the English victory in the Battle of Fort Beauséjour (in present-day New Brunswick). "What went down on the Plains of Abraham" was the Battle of Quebec in 1759--the decisive battle of the war, but still years after the deportations.

I've always thought that would be a fun retirement job. Crusty old parking ticket guy. And you'd get one of those cool hats. I have no sympathy for people who can't read parking signs.

I really suck at re-reading or editing a paper once I have finished writing it. By the time I've actually written it, the last thing I want to do is read through that pile of crap again.

The receptionist at the doctor's office this morning stuck her finger in my 3 month old daughter's mouth (by accident, but still). Now I'm even MORE worried about the stupid flu, and also pretty pissed off that this woman was so careless. Seriously, keep your germy hands away from my baby!!!!!

I always found that if I waited a day or two before proofreading a paper I always did MUCH better.

When writing it I always know what I mean to say. Once I gave it a bit of time then I could see areas that weren't explained correctly.

And while I always intended to do that, 95% of the time I was fighting to get the paper done in time to hand in. You could probably count the number of papers I did early on your fingers. But the ones I did early always benefited from that last delayed proofread.
