Default Octomom, Helium child....

So news, including major news networks and the entertainment networks call these stories as "they wanted to get attention" yet the news and entertainment networks not only comply but promote this kind of behavior.

So what is wrong, is it the media for giving these people what they want? Or is it the people who buy the magazines and tune into the entertainment shows.?

Its a double edged sword...if only one network has an "exclusive" with one of these freaks, it becomes a bidding war to see who can have them...if everybody runs the story, we complain about it being overexposed.

Unfortunately, in the information age, its only going to get worse.

It's a tag-team operation. It's cheap for the media to cover this kind of thing and it's easy for people to watch. You don't have to spend money to report it and you don't have to use your brain as you watch it unfold.

I got totally suckered when that boy was "in the balloon". Common sense told me that there couldn't be a 50-pound kid in that thing, but I was still worried about him. Where was he supposed to be? Sitting in that little hatch and hurtling through sky? It's ridiculous, but I did buy it at the time.

So to answer your question, we are all wrong.

I blame the internet. It has made us dumber. I know it has made me dubmer.

But one side is bigger and sharper.

Stupidity has always been around. Now we have outlet that let us express this internationally and a willingness to BS something. As a steroid to this "neuroticism" - is we have the internet which is truly filled with the most stable and upright citizens. I mean.... this is the forum that brought us the 9/11 truthers"
