Shantz recalled
Shantz is on his way to abby. Someone said that keets got hurt in the last game and irving took over for OT and the SO so now its shantz turn.

This is good news. I thought Shantz looked better in the pre-season with the Flames than Keetley did.

Heck, I thought Shantz looked better in the pre-season with the Flames than McBackup did. Plus he made the save that allowed Theo's goal to stand as the winner.

I know this will fall on deaf ears, but David Shantz isn't even fifth on the Calgary Flames depth chart at goaltender.
1. Miikka Kiprusoff
2. Curtis McElhinney
3. Leland Irving
4. Matt Keetley
5. (arguably) Joni Ortio
6. Any North American-based goaltender not currently under contract to a NHL team, of which David Shantz is but one of many.

I wouldnt want Irving for a back up, let him play in the A
Ortio debatable yes...I like Shantz and Keets better than McE, imo anyway

It means he is not signed to a two way contract with Calgary. He is only on a minor league contract with the Abbotsford Heat. WRONG!
Vandermeer is on an AHL contract only also.
Because if thats the case they have no part of assigning him to an ECHL team and he didn't sign a PTO to play for the HEAT.
Hes on an AHL contract with CALGARY. To play for calgary and I hope not because that means bad bad things he would have to sign a new contract with Calgary.

Abbotsford didn't sign shantz. Calgary has him on a minor league deal like Vandermeer.
If he had a chance to play for calgary he would have to sign him to a new contract.
