Flame away, ladies.

When we were younger, we would always pick up weed from this one guy that worked at a Super Drug Mart, and there was never any close parking spots except the two handicap spots. So I'd always park in it, then my buddy would get out and pretend to hobble into the store. Good times.

So why wouldn't you just park it at the back of the parking lot but just park it normally and not like a ######? If there weren't any cars around anyways, why would you need to take up 2 spots? It's not like there are cars around you that you need to avoid. I dunno, if I had a nice car, I'd always try not to park like a ######. Like it or not, you're just putting your vehicle at greater risk if you do. At the end of the day, you're the one who loses out IMO, since you'll be the ones forking over the cash to fix the key marks.

Maybe in Calgary that is the case but in little Victoria no one is keying any vehicles because of a parking space. If you think that it is okay to key someone's car because they take two spaces you are just as much as a ###### IMO. Anyone who touched my car better hope I'm not walking out and watching them do it. I wish I could trust others to be responsible and not open their doors into the side of my car but that is not the world we live in.

Oh, I'm not saying it's ok to key someone's car because they didn't like the way they parked. But we are talking about Calgary, where people don't respect OPP, get super annoyed because someone honked at them for screwing up, and think it's ok to police the roads by driving on the left lane to impede people speeding. I just think it's putting your car in unneccessary risk, that's all.

Both are examples where the vehicle has right of way -- I like to mercifully honk at those pedestrians and cut them off. Best of all, that is completely within my right.

It's kinda been talked about, but once again, merge lanes.

No, I'm not talking about the idiot that tries to merge at 50 km/h onto Deerfoot. I'm talking about the arrogant ######bag (looking at some of the people in this thread), that think they're better than everyone and will slam the accelerator through the solid lines just past the onramp and get onto the highway. This screws over the 5 or so cars that were following the one idiot, who were all planning to merge when the lines becomes dotted - when you are actually supposed to merge.

So, a big screw you to impatient people!

Oh, man. I will never forget one day I was driving on deerfoot NB and passing under Memorial. There was an inexplicable heavy stream of cars coming off of memorial, but deerfoot was flowing nice and freely. I was in the right lane, doing probably the limit, when this sumbitch pulled that move and drove over the white merge cone paint and cut me off doing about 50.
I had my coffee in my hand, and dropped the cup to two hand the steering wheel as I slammed on the brakes.

I don't think I've ever wanted to kill another driver more than that day. I flew into a fit of rage and actually tried to get the guy to pull over. He bolted, whilst flipping me the bird. His girlfriend flipped me off, too. F'n guy. And yeah, he probably thinks I'm the aggressive a-hole with road rage and he's the calm driver, and that all he did was inconvenience me for a few seconds. No, he almost fricken killed me or him or both of us.

Completely agree with this! I don't think they realize how freaking dangerous it is, not only for them, but for the drivers in the right lane AND the drivers in the merge lane ahead of them..

I am now filled with rage because of this =D

And I'm not sure why everybody gets so bent out of shape about people honking horns. I actually like it when people honk their horns at me; it's the only way I know that it's safe to make a left hand turn.

What does the linked look like to some drivers? A left turning lane and 2 continuous lanes correct?

Link to google maps hope you have the google maps plugin for your browser

Why is it that people in the right lane, which is clearly marked a turning lane on a sign, and on the street, think that the double lane it was, will continue to be a double lane throughout 32nd Ave NE?

(Had a civic cut me off that was to my left and i was in the middle lane.)

(Also you don't want to be in the left continue through lane if you want to go all the way down 32nd as some struggler will always be in that lane and trying to merge/cut off some other person who queued up way back)

Also what the heck is the deal with trying to abort going into the turn lane mid-turn? I 've seen that 5 times now, and it's 5 times too many in the last year. Is it too difficult to plan your trip and know what turns you have to make? I've lost entire light cycles to this. 2 minutes of worthless idling waiting for some jag-off or (addled-brained female) realize that this isn't the turn they wanted and cut me off for and they try to rejoin the flow of traffic.

This intersection makes me question things. If I am in the left most northbound lane(with both a turn and a straight through for the sign directions) and facing a red, only the far most right lane should be turning on the red when it's clear correct?

I actually brought this same question up over at SSP about a couple of months ago. I frequently use this route on my morning drive to work. The answers I got were that all 3 lanes could make the right turn on a red light if it was safe to proceed.

I am usually in the middle lane, and would very rarely make the turn on a red. Too hard to judge the oncoming traffic from 5th avenue with the multiple lanes, unless it is completely clear to go.

Yup, all three lanes can turn on red if it's safe at that intersection. It's really hard to judge which lanes vehicles are in, so I usually only do it if the whole road is clear.

How about this one?

http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&t=h&l...59.995177&z=18

so there are dotted lines for the left turners to go to their perspective lanes. However one of the rightmost left turning lane is the same lane as the right turner.

Who has right of way?

I have no idea, so I've been cautious as the right and left turner on this intersection.

^Hmm...well, not quite. There is actually 4 lanes on 4th Ave. All traffic that is turning should have their own lanes.

^ Is this concidered a one way street to a one way? (With the oncoming traffic)

There is also a sign that says "end one way" before the intersection. So can you still turn left on that red?

Hmmm, for some reason that last lane didn't seem to be wide enough when cars are parked there. I guess I must be remembering wrong.

^ Yeah, there is a loading zone there and sometimes you get the wider work trucks parked there, so the lane is roughly twice as wide until you hit that fire hydrant, at which point it goes back to the standard lane width.
