Here in Aotearoa we got lots of roundabouts. Apparently we are meant to signal not only our initial intended direction before entering roundabout, but also signal (mid-roundabout), our exit intention. Hopefully thats easy to visualize. Anyway no one does it.

Well, since we've moved from lawbreaking to things we hate....

I hate the Calgary Creep. No, not Phaneuf. The Calgary Creep. It's where people who can't drive have to stop 40 feet behind the car in front of them, sit there for ten seconds, then creep up to where they should have stopped in the first place, inching along, dragging their brakes. It doesn't really add any time to the commute, but it's annoying as hell. If you can't actually stop a car where you want to, maybe you shouldn't be driving? Just a thought. Oh yeah, I hate Phaneuf too.

If you are going to operate a piece of machinery that can travel hundreds of KPH, and would kill anything in it's path you should be confident you know what you are doing behind that wheel. Just my opinion.

Everyone is the world wouldn't have to leave 5-15 minutes early to get somewhere if people took the time to learn the rules of the road instead of just assuming because you know how to turn a blinker on doesn't mean you know how to drive.

Does stupidity account for the other 80%?
Well, the world isn't black and white either. All drivers aren't made the same or with the same kind of confidence. Like I said it's frustrating at times but I will say there's a huge chance of you getting into something you'll regret if you don't relax, take your time and cut the less talented drivers some slack.

It's not about being more talented or not it is about knowing and not being stupid. Some very simple things would save a ton of time and a ton of accidents. The left lane is NOT for cursing at the speed limit and a merge lane is exactly that, a lane to allow you to merge, not stop at the beginning and cut off the poor sucker driving 100Km+.

It bugs me each time, but I actually think the odds of an accident are lessened just because so many people dont follow the rules.
I'm sorry but it is you not following the rules of road and 90% of the time people are doing it right, while your doing it wrong.

Semi drivers staying in the left lane on deerfoot purposely to piss people off. Move right you F tards. And don't ride the shoulder spraying gravel!

Yeah, I misunderstood ... I was crossing my wires between arriving at the same time and when a 4 way stop is full on all sides. MY bad.

Just to clarify again, in case someone jumps in here ... only when cars arrive to the stop sign at the same time does the person on the right have the right of way. Otherwise, its the person who gets there first that has the right of way.

IMO if the parking lot is fairly empty and you do it at the back of the parking lot it is not hurting anyone. If people have the curiosity not to smack their doors into the side of my car it wouldn't be an issue.

that'll only work until they slam on their brakes and it's your fault for hitting them.

As much as I hate uneducated drivers, dangerous drivers, drivers that hold up traffic because they think they are the only ones on the road etc. there is one other thing that really bothers me.

Cops that don't enforce traffic laws, but instead use them to find the profitable way to generate revenue. We all know the tricks, setting up radar just over the crest of a hill, on a decline, just after a speed limit change, many other "tricks" to maximize ticket rates. And of course there if photo radar, its sole purpose to mass produce tickets. People need to be held accountable for their driving mistakes, photo radar does not do that. Setting up speed traps in advantageous conditions just to ticket as many people as possible does nothing to make people better drivers.

A big part of becoming a better driver is to get educated, and more importantly learn from your mistakes. It would be nice to see the police take a more active roll in actually being genuinely a part of the educating process.

On that note, the news media fails also in educating people. When a fatal traffic incident occurs, I have never once seen them explain what happened, and how we can all make sure we do our best to avoid a similar situation. All we get is the body count, and the pictures of the carnage. TELL PEOPLE WHAT HAPPENED, and bring on an resident expert to explain what we can all do to minimize such situations. The only thing we really ever hear is, bad weather slow down out there. Yea thanks, I would have never thought of that myself.

What is the point of honking the horn when somebody is doing something wrong? They either don't care what you think or they don't know any better. So it is in my mind pointless.

Honking the horn should be used to get people's attention under certain circumstances. Like the time the person was honking his horn because he was sliding on the ice through the intersection. Most people started to give him the eff you look until they realized what was happening. One woman was not even paying attention. As I grabbed her and pulled her out of the intersection she had this look of fear as she realized what happened. She just stood there for awhile as we started to walk when it was safe.

So excessive honking of car horns has made them useless for their intended use. Kinda like the car alarm. When a car alarm goes off what do people do? I would say most just ignore it.

I wish I could download different "horntones". One of them would be "hey, sh*tstick! You're a complete moron! What you're doing right now is illegal because it totally fatas up traffic! I hate you and I want you to die in a horrible, fiery crash! Now get the fata out of my way."

No shinguard. Some people are just so sensitive. I've given the driver in front of me the quick douple tap honk to alert him to the fact that the light is green and gotten the bird in reply. It's just amazing to me that people get so offended by the fact that I really don't want to sit at a green light and wait for them to finish pulling the wire.

As for the post I quoted last, the answer to your question of "why do you honk when someone's doing something wrong?" is that it's illegal to get out of my truck and bounce the loser's face off his steering wheel. So I settle for honking.

Turning left over a double solid is one of the highest forms of d-baggery. I don't really mind if you do it on a non-busy road, but seriously, if you do it on 14th st, I want to murder you. If you're going south on 14th, you're not allowed to stop and flip on your signal light to turn in to the Husky. Illegal. You're destroying traffic. I will plaster my hand on my horn until you get all flustered and abort your attempt at turning. Seriously. I take it THAT seriously. I hate you and I want you to either

Except an hour later, the parking lot is full, and others have to drive around for 30 mins while you are double-parked. People should then have the "curiosity" to key your car.

This is a lesson taught in Driver's ed, to help prevent accidents - rear endings, in particular.

Funny about the horn.

Last time I was in NYC, I heard horns honking all day, all night...
