A WR for So. Carolina in serious trouble after taking a really nasty blow in the head.... but he did give a thumbs up when loaded onto the stretcher and onto the cart.

looked just scary.

Oh and Va Tech just lost to Ga tech and that will now move the Trojans up to 4, and if by some miracle the Gamecocks can beat the Tide, they will move to 3.

Come on So Carolina!!

The Irish have certainly played some exciting games this year. They are in every game. I think they could hang with any team in the country.

Montana defeats Eastern Washington 41-34 and move to 6-0 on the season. Marc Mariani (I'm telling you, this kid is an NFL player) had an 82 yard punt return for a TD in the second half.

Next up, 2-4 Sacramento State which lost 49-10 at Weber today.

GO GRIZ!

Holy cow. Just noticed that Kalispell native Brock Osweiler, who I have talked about before in this forum, is the back up QB for Arizona State as a true freshman. I had no idea he had impressed that much. Has already got some mop up time in this year and has a TD pass.

I might have to become an Arizona State fan for a while.

That Texas v Okla was one hell of a game and the Florida v Ark. Bigtime games.
ND put up a better fight against USC then i thought they would. Too bad they didn't upset. The best for me personally was the Suckeyes getting upset by unranked Purdue

Woo! Great day. Michigan rolls against Flacco U, THE ohio state university (dumbest thing ever) loses, and CU knocks off Kansas. Not bad at all.

Flacco went to Delaware. They have the same helmets as Michigan (or very close). I think they played Delaware State yesterday.

With Northern Iowa and New Hampshire both losing, Montana should climb to a solid #2 ranking in the FCS division. Ahead of them, last year's National Champion Richmond Spiders. Rematch coming for the title?

A 20 YO CB from UConn was involved in a fight on campus after the game yesterday and has been pronounced dead after being fatally stabbed.

Yikes.

In any case, it's a 4 round playoff. The MAC champion isn't going to win it all. But, they might gain some recruiting prowess and slowly, over time, we end up with 30 great college football programs instead of 6.
No, not even a little bit. On the football field Boise State is certainly Pac-10 material, in many other respects it's not even close. You seem to think that these conferences are simply football leagues, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

As for the Big Ten, who is supposed to join? The league has wanted to add ND to the mix for a long time, but apparently the Big Ten is to blame for ND wanting to stay independent? Are there a bunch of other teams out there that fit the Big Ten profile who want in? Seriously, who is out there that the Big Ten should be adding?

No, no I don't.

I'd like to see a playoff. It may not be feasible. I have no problem admitting that. I just find the BCS to be a system that is great for about 8 schools.

I was just throwing out an idea to avoid taking 4 teams from one conference in a playoff scenario.

Have no idea what you are talking about regarding Notre Dame. How is it the Big Ten's fault that ND is independent? That makes no sense. Notre Dame doesn't want to join a conference. They don't need an affiliation.

They did and you're correct.

Regarding the CU / Kansas thing, this seems to be the same thing every year from coach Hawkins now. Fall short of expectations, get everyone riled up about wanting to fire you, get your yearly upset to settle the fan base down, the ride out that good will for the rest of the year.

At least he finally benched his damn son. Too bad it only took 3 years.

I'm not sure how big an upset it really is. KU was pretty good last year and the year before. This year they have a great QB, two really good WR's and nothing else. I think they go as far as Reesing can take them every game.

You want the Pac 10 and the Big Ten to add teams, my point is that Boise State doesn't fit in with the Pac 10 simply because they fit in on the football field. As for the Big Ten, they've been wanting to add ND for years. You want a team to be added but there aren't any other legitimate candidates out there, so what is the Big Ten supposed to do?

My point is you've thrown out something that isn't feasible. That's the general approach when people come up with their playoff systems, they're all fine and good when you forget the realities of the situation.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I just said all of that.

I hate that what we are stuck with is a system in which only a handful of schools ever compete for the title. Works great if you're a fan of one of those schools I guess, but for someone like myself who doesn't follow a particular division 1 football program it's pretty freaking boring.

Why not?

The PAC-10 is an athletic conference...nothing else. What is it that they dont "fit in" about when it comes to joining an athletic conference.

Is it their TV audience? Seating capacity? What exactly prohibits a Boise St from joining the Pac-10 exactly?

And what are you talking about with ND?? The Big 11 have been after them to join for years, but it is in their best financial interests to stay independant because they dont have to share their massive revenue streams with anyone else.

Its funny that ND basketball can be part of a conference, but their FB team cannot...dont you think?

The Pac 10 may appear to be simply an athletic conference, but that's not the way the conference thinks of itself or the way the conference sells itself. It sees itself as a group of largely research universities and elite academic institutions, Boise State doesn't fit in there. Even if you look at it from a purely athletic point of view Boise State hardly fits in outside of the football field. The basketball program is decent, but not really a program that would add anything to the Pac 10. Add in the fact that Boise State doesn't bring in much in the way of tv revenue and would take a cut out of everyone else's pockets and the addition doesn't really make sense.

You can't just look at football results and go 'well Boise State should be in the Pac 10'. You can pretend it's that simple of you want, but if you want to actually be realistic it's obviously not.

As for ND, I'm addressing the idea that the Big Ten hasn't wanted to add teams, which was the assertion made earlier. As you said, the Big Ten has wanted to add ND for years, so that allegation is total BS. I'm not arguing that ND doesn't have every reason in the world to remain independent, I'm simply saying that adding a team to the Big Ten isn't all that easy seeing as the only realistic candidate wants nothing to do with it. Like I said before, who else is out there as a candidate? Central Michigan? Rutgers? Cincinnati? I mean those are the teams that are mentioned occasionally, do you really think any of those are an option? Even if the Big Ten picked up a Cincinnati or Rutgers it simply creates another shuffle in a different conference, not sure how that solves anything.
