The Stamps should thank the Riders for going helmet-to-helmet on Burris when he's on the ground?
More like the Riders should thank to the refs for calling the first pyramiding call in years in the CFL.

Don't lead with your helmet on a QB when a simple touch would suffice.

Did I hear them say that the riders haven't won the division since 1976?
lol, if that's true that is truly pathetic since there have been pre-dominantly only 4 teams in the division all that time.
34 years? lol

I can't believe Dwight Anderson didn't make that tackle on 3rd down which would've sealed up the win. I love how he gets jacked up ala Bob Sanders, but it cost him on that one. What a game. Between this one and the ND/USC game I couldn't decide which one to stick on. Classic afternoon of football.
...now bring on Saints/Giants!

I've been to at least 20-30 games at Taylor Field and another 20-30 games at McMahon and that was the greatest CFL game I have ever witnessed...ever.
Only thing that comes close is the 07 Labour day game when Joseph scored with 15s left on the QB draw.
Wow that was fun.

Except it ended in a tie, which makes me really appreciate the shootout.

It isn't like each team didnt' have a chance to win.
It is a shootout so I'm not sure what you are talking about. It only goes 2 rounds though.

Just saw the replay and that pyramiding call was a phantom. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a ref who disagreed with the late hit on Chick and decided to even the score.

Agreed. He got up in the air thanks to the shoulders of 2 Sask O-lineman.
I thought the rule was strictly if it was on the shoulders of a teammate, not an opponent.

yea that was rediculous. he was on the olines shoulders. i had never seen that call before though, didn't realize you can't pyramid. i was at the game and didn't understand what the call was until i got home and saw the replay on tsn2.
wow.
as for the blackout, that sucks that it was blacked out, but really, this should've been a sellout, and it wasn't. riders-stamps for first, nice October afternoon weather, saturday, tickets available. how did this not sell out, or even come close for that matter. i was at the game and they announced an attendance of 38k. thats it??
i got safeway tickets (cheap tickets ftw) and actually had to pick up an extra one this morning and there were still some left at safeway, at noon today. $16 tickets!
apparently it was blacked out on regular tsn due to the mixup, but was on tsnhd channel. so not totally blacked out, and it shouldn't have been, as it was a great, intense, close majorly important game with a good attendance (though dissapointing).
and the Stamps should've won after controlling the game for most of it. a few dumb plays where riders were left wide open and missed tackles were made. both teams got lucky on a call.

Please. Burris was stick a live player when Chick made contact with him. I could see a roughing the passer call if Chick launched himself at the QB, but they he hit Burris Burris' chest and head at the same time.
As for the pyramiding call. Explain the black arm that was lifting up the player who blocked the kicked. The game is on TSN.ca. Watch it. The arm was between the blocker's leg lifting. Now, I don't blame the Stamps for trying that. It was a good gamble, but don't sit here and tell me it wasn't a legitimate call.
You caught a break. Be happy with it and move on, don't pretend you didn't it.

Yeah, being at the game, the Stamp got rediculously high up, I have a hard time believing he didn't get help getting up that high, so I wasn't surprised with the pyramiding call. Had it been legitimate, however, the Stamps would have scored an amazing 9 points in one overtime.
Great game to be at, exciting, always close through the whole game.
Lots of Riders fans there, maybe the most I've ever seen. Probably 15%-20% of the total amount of fans in the stadium.

Chick call was the right call. All he had to do was touch Burris. He decided to hammer him while he was on the ground. Selfish play. We were lucky Chick decided to be an idiot.
Cost his sewer rats 2pts.
Burris rebounded this game. I was dissapointed in the Defensive cord on that 8pt drive by the Riders. The Stamps defence played great all game until the coaches decide to zone it up. Having the DB's and one of the OLB drop back on that 2 pt conversion was horrible. I don't blame the players i blame Jones.
Burris was in panic mode on that first OT drive until the Chick call. He settled down and man'd up when it counted though.
Rider dirtbags got extremely lucky with that Stamps blocked kick on the single. He elevated on the Shoulder of the Sask O-lineman. Too bad the refs stole that away. It was a tremendous play to block a point after.

Just watched the VOD on TSN of overtime, I can't say whether that Chick call was the right call or not, but Chick certainly jumped on Burris harder than he needed to, and Chick did hit Burris' helmet with his helmet. You jump on a quarterback like that when the QB is already lying on the ground, and you are always risking a unneccessary roughness call. It was "unneccessary" roughness, maybe not enough to get a penalty, but the refs called it.
If we assume that Calgary doesn't convert on 3rd and 35, or whatever it would have been, and we assume that Sask does the same two plays to start thier OT drive, the 43 yard FG they would have attempted on 3rd down is certainly makeable, but it no gimmie, and should be able to be run out fairly easily if it was missed.

We didn't catch a break according to you. CFL rules state that any contact with a QB's helmet is an automatic 15-yard penalty. I've seen the Stamps flagged for 15 after brushing Ray's helmet with a stray arm. Since you yourself admitted there was contact on Burris' helmet there's really no complaint.
I watched the replay on TSN2 for those plays and saw nothing of a Stamps player lifting.

Principal: Mr. Madison, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Billy Madison: Okay, a simple "wrong" would've done just fine.

Thats the point though, that shouldn't be enough for a ref to make the call. Thats all tom Higgins said too that it seemed "unnatural". Yet if you watch the replay no Stamp is even that close to George. It was a flat out brutal call made on the "gut feeling" of an official. thats terrible officiating. He used the Riders players in front of him, but thats not what the rule prevents. It should not have been a penalty and Stamps should have won.The Chick penalty also was legit. You can't dive with your helmet and a QB who is on the ground. They'll call that every time and its a mistake by Chick not a bad call.
Thing is, the Stamps should have won this game in regulation so i'm not too mad about the OT calls anyway. You can't, if you call your sell a championship team, let a team drive the field in under 3 mins and score AND then give up the 2 point convert. Thats not championship calibre football.
