Didn't think so. It's great football and it is exciting. I rarely watch a bowl game. There is zero on the line except in the Nat'l title game. The bowls are about money and nothing else.
I'll anxiously await your OMG another playoff person response.

Yes I have, Western Ill and Northern Iowa are both in the qc area before I moved. nothing like 6k fans at a "playoff" game but when they pack the stands for the cotton bowl or sugar bowl hell even the cap one bowl looks and is a better experiece to me

No one is saying it wouldn't be exciting. It's the fact that it completely devalues the regular season.

What an entertaining (yet offensively stunted and very sloppy) OU vs Texas game going on right now.

How does Texas not recover that fumble for a TD?

No it doesn't.
Is the NFL regular season completely devalued because they have a playoff instead of a stupid 1 game championship in which the participants may be chosen by a group of biased observers?
I would argue that the regular season is devalued by the current system! So much so that the top programs can get to that game by playing nobody and dominating their conference. It's ridiculous to me and a big reason why I watch very little Division 1 football. There are about 20 good games a year.

Yeah, I'd say the NFL regular season is boring. Great, the Broncos upset the Pats. Does it really matter if the Pats are just going to make the playoffs anyways? The important games are the games featuring average teams and not the games featuring the top teams. As we get closer to December, games with Minnesota and the NY Giants are quite meaningless, but games featuring average teams like Dallas or Houston have all the playoff implications. In college football terms, that's like saying Nebraska/Texas Tech is the bigger game today than Texas/OU.
If there's a playoff then this UT/OU game means nothing (assuming a 16-team 1AA playoff). OU can lose and they'll still make it to the playoffs with 3 losses. UT can lose and still afford 2 more losses.

you wanna know how stupid the existing set up is?
Notre Dame could get blown out by 40 by USC today, then go forward and win out the rest of the way, be a 2 loss team with one of the weakest "big school" schedules ever constructed, and still receive an automatic bid for a BCS game.
Now tell me how a playoff system would "devalue" the regular season games. They mean squat for the most part already.

Wow...you have high standards of entertainment I guess.
I just can't place much value on a system that rewards teams for playing crappy opponents.

Uh, aren't we talking about the National Championship here? If Notre Dames loses by 40 any game they aren't making it to the NC Game...
But a playoff would be soooo much better because that same Notre Dame team would not only make the playoffs, but probably be an #8-10 seed with a reasonable chance at advancing.

Uh, aren't you the one who said they don't have bowl games because they "mean nothing"? Yet I don't watch week 14 NFL games featuring a 12-2 team against a 11-3 team because that means nothing either and I'm the stupid one.
I can't place much value on a system that rewards teams for going 9-3.
Do you honestly think a playoff system encourages teams to play quality non-conference opponents? It makes it worse. Why would you risk a loss in non-conference play when you can play 4 cupcakes, go 5-3 in conference play and still have a very good shot at playing for the National Championship?

I thought we were talking about the National Championship? If that's the case why would you care if Notre Dame has a reasonable chance at advancing? They certainly aren't getting anywhere near the title game!

It wasn't a snide comment at all. I was honestly surprised (shocked) by your high standard of entertainment.

Well they still clearly have just as big a chance as any of the other 16 teams. They could easily be the 8th seed, have a home game against an over-rated #9 team and beat them. Then all they need is a upset by a low seed and they could have a pretty easy game to make it to the semis. After that, who knows?
But apparently the system now is a joke because it doesn't afford teams like Notre Dame those chances they haven't earned.

Your just mad because mangino came in and ate all your food... Get over it the playoff system will not be put into the college footaball world. This is the only way for a team lacking anything important like Kansas to make it to the big show. Now stick to the round ball and get over it.

So the real fear for you with a playoff is that the two 'best' teams might not be able to prove it when put to the test?
I don't get it.
What kills me is that this year, the two best teams probably have a 1% chance of ending up playing each other in that game. One of them will lose in the SEC championship and be done.
