Any idea when this would be available on ppv/dvd?

Going to the movies is getting harder and harder with all the annoying people.

no release date for DVD, but imdb has it listed as 12-31-09. That is a thursday, new media (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, games) are released on tuesdays.

i am sure the studios will release it some time in November for the holiday season. that seems to be the pattern for most summer theatrical releases = holiday dvd release.

PPV is usually around the same time as DVD/Blu-Ray release.

I watched this movie a second time and it lost all luster for me. I don't know why. The first time was bolstered by awe and expectations of seeing all the old characters and universe recreated again. The 2nd time viewing it, it was just another movie to me and nothing I really enjoyed that much.

The full details on the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Star Trek came out a few days ago.

The street date for the release is November 17th, 2009.

You do realize that if you click the link that says "Watch on YouTube", it will open the video in a new window, right?

bump an old thread.
I just had opportunity to see the new Star Trek film and I was very impressed.
Being a fan from way back, I really liked the new look.
couple of things that stood out for me.
a) was surprised that they killed off Spock's mother. I could have sworn I saw her in a movie later on in the time line, but maybe I am wrong.
b) I didnt realize that Uhura and Spock were so close?
c) I didnt think Pine protrayed Kirk as I would have expected him to. Maybe I am just having difficulty seeing anyone but Shatner playing Kirk.
d) didnt know the Romulans destroyed Vulcan. Did the Vulcans inhabit a new planet and renamed it Vulcan in the time line?
just a few things that I remember from last night.
Other than that, it was pretty darn cool and a good way to revitalize the franchise.

The moment Nero went back in time and had the skirmish with the USS Kelvin, the timeline changed. Nero continued to change the timeline with his skirmishes with the Klingons and ultimately the destruction of Vulcan and most of the Federation armada.

As a result, the "new" Star Trek exists in an entirely different timeline from the "old" Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY) and none of the events that were previously described will necessarily take place.

For things like games and any future series/movies that take place in the old timeline, Vulcan is intact but Romulus and much of the Romulan Star Empire is destroyed... as Nero went back in time from shortly after that event.

As an aside, this is the version of the film that I am buying on Blu-Ray:

Oh Nehkara, you wrote what I wanted too, but was too lazy to type.

For those that want a pictorial reference

Edit: I'm still kind of on the fence with the JJPrise.
