I don't mind the people around me playing music... any type of music. It's the bass that gets me. That's what I can hear in the other room, or will sound like aliens are invading. What I do now is I take my 3 iron and I smack which ever wall or floor is making the noise until they stop. I once did that at 3 AM to this girl who had her bass so loud I couldn't even sleep with ear plugs. The next morning, she baked me cookies to say sorry and slept with me!

Maybe not the sleeping part but she baked me cookies!!

Haha!

In my University days, I lived in a basement suite near U of C. The house was owned by an old widow who lived upstairs. That was great for years, but she eventually couldn't stay in the house and had to sell. The new owner kept us as tenants in the basement, and rented out the top floor to a couple of guys.

They turned out to be total dbags. Music and partying til all hours of the morning, weeknights, weekends, it didn't matter. Luckily, we had the breaker box for the whole house in our suite. The first time we killed the power, it took them a while to figure it out. Afterwards, whenever we did it, it always was confrontational. We moved to a condo within, oh I dunno, 6 months of them moving in upstairs.

Why would there be backlash?

It's too bad these guys below me aren't hot chicks, but rather young immigrant males from Poland. They've had some roaring parties, and I've made sure to make a lot of noise by vacuuming and dropping things after I was sure they went to bed.

Isn't there a condo bylaw against excessive noise?

If not start a condo war and see how they like it

Yeah the proper authorities have been alerted in the past too, and they've been quiet for the longest time, but they are getting bad again. Thursday nights are their party nights apparently. Luckily they're quiet for right now, but I've been woken up in the middle of the night many times because of the bass.

I'm just used to it by now I guess. Maybe not from all of CP but that one guy had it coming, I just hope he doesn't respond because that really pissed me off.

I just hope I didn't go overboard in my response to him. What especially offended me was the holier than thou attitude, as if I'm some ignorant f*** who wishes we could just exterminate all aboriginals.

I actually find myself to be rather educated and sympathetic to some of the problems that aboriginals have in this country. From systematic abuse, violence, poverty, alcohol abuse etc.

Like I said in my other post though that is another discussion for another thread.

I actually like using this thread to vent. It moves so fast and the topic changes so much that controversial things rarely drag on for too long.

Is it really? I thought it was just a colloquial term.

I got in deep s*** a while ago for using pansy not knowing that it was regarded as a rather offensive slang to homosexuals not long ago. I mean, I'm not stupid, I always new it was a synonym for p***y but I just thought it meant wimpy or girlish because it is a flower.

If you aren't being facetious I'll go edit that, I don't want to piss anyone off more than I probably already have.

The colloquialism is hunky dory. I said it was racist since you included honky. Which admittedly makes me giggle every time I hear it.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH. What a friggin capital J, Jackass that guy is. (mods I'm talking about no one in particular so you can't give me an infraction, right?)

Only thing worse than people who are blatantly ignorant is the ones who think they are actually intelligent. (cue someone posting about how I've been that guy numerous times on CP, well at least I usually admit it, even if I defend myself)

hahaha. My bad. I think people will know what I meant. I'd go edit it but if I go in that thread with that degenerate again I'm going to have a meltdown.

Pansy is a gay slur? News to me. I think the p***ys are making things up.

In other racial news I got away with one in the stuffing thread. It amused me.

Yeah, that came up when the whole Mike Milbury "pansification of the NHL" news story was going on IIRC.

People actually were really mean to me just because I defended Milbury.

In other racial news, somebody in the Olympic thread made a blatant crack at asian people (in good humour of course, I wasn't offended in the least) and that POS had the audacity to call me a redneck.

I know it won't happen but that is the kind of post (my long post in the Olympic thread) that I wish would get like 200 thanks just to put that clown in his place.

And to save myself from flipping out. I'm out for the night. Peace.

Get yourself a basketball and start bouncing it on the floor for a good half hour. Better yet put on some ski boots and start walking around your condo. Ski boots have worked for me in the past

I wanted to start a new thread for this but it would probably be a fata and realistically belongs in here.

Over herd at the bar quote of the night:

Girl: You love me right?

Dude: No. What do you want?

Edit: I am getting married soon, thus i myself have laughed this comment off before and I expect to hear it for all eternity.

I've wondered for a bit if you were a Filipino with a jaded sense of humour with your user name. Am I right?

I had no idea what you were talking about for a while Flip so I had to read the entire Olympic thread. Gold it was... interesting way that guy had. But I fully agree with you on what you said but sometimes you just gotta let things go and not take it's toll on you.
