Ok, hate to burst your bubble, but there's been this behind-the-scenes CP-wide conspiracy to give you lots of thanks, to--you know--help you out. Kind of like the Participaction participant awards.

Celebrated Square Root Day

The mods seem to give them out for little things, rather than posters working for them or earning them. Mine came from this thread about square roots day...
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ht=square+root
..where I said "I hope some nerd tells me about this day today, so I can punch him in the face to celebrate my first annual "punch a nerd in the face for telling me it's square root day" day."

I know I'm just playing around. I just brought that question up because it seems to pop up once a year from a new poster asking and the thread usually gets crazy.

When did Tower get banned? And why?
Actually I always am interested as to why people are in the Sin Bin or why they get banned. Usually if they did somehting bad enough the post that got them banned is deleted so I can't check their post history to find out.
I also just noticed VladtheImpaler is in the Sin Bin.
I don't think that has ever happened to me. How does that work?
Can you not even access CP? Or can you just not login? Or can you login, you just can't post?

I had one for some time and didn't even know. Apparently one of the mods made it First Line Centre (which I was already at the time) and then when I became a #1 Goaltender it didn't change and I asked.
Then just after the upside down text thread in the Tech forum it changed to flop.
I really enjoy the ones that seem to come from a random source. Lots of times when I read someones user title I'll remember the random thread that inspired it. Others not so much, but they were probably just before my time.

I'll toe the line here. Tower got hosed for getting rather uppity about his "Freeman rights" in the 9/11 thread. I can only guess there was an amusing PM fight leading up to it. Vlad? I don't follow that guy, but I'm guessing he got a little too fired up on the FoI side.
That's all I got.

Even though it seems like I've been here forever, here's a few things I have to ask:
1. What handle is Jordon using nowadays?
2. I also miss Lanny. Has anybody mentioned why he was kicked out yet?
3. Why did Cowperson mysteriously quit posting for a long time? I loved his news updates.
4. What happened to Ro?
That's all for now. I'm sure I'll think of more later.

While in the sin bin for a week I was able to log in and browse, but no posting or PMs or Thanks.
Basically you're logged in but have the same rights as a guest.

I was busy and eliminated a distraction for awhile. Nothing deeper than that. May happen again.
Aside from business, the primary issue, I went to Africa and climbed Kilimanjaro, ran the half-marathon in Amsterdam on the way back, was down in Florida, went to Vegas, ran a bunch of other races, did a lot of walking in the mountains with the dogs, especially in winter, did some biking . . . . . I think I was on 17 planes through my disappearance.
Transplant99 and Reggie Dunlop are closing in on my post count pretty rapidly.
You have to admit, it's a tough choice, being immersed in Calgarypuck or looking for dead things on the prairie through the winter.
Thanks for asking . . . . .
Cowperson

It took every ounce of self control I had to not post that. Thank you for making me feel almost normal.

I'm curious what the average number of posts is for all registered CP members. Whenever I look through the members list there seem to be dozens and dozens of people with 100 or fewer posts for each 1000+ post-count member.
