I was in the midst of another Youtube surfing session that started with watching clips of Californication and then somehow worked its way into watching clips of Craig Ferguson monologues...
Anyway, I've watched his show from time to time and I've always enjoyed his personality and sense of humour, but I spotted a couple of older clips tonight that I had never seen before.
Admittedly, these clips are almost three years old... but I think I'm going to make a point of watching his show a bit more now. It's interesting how much someone stands out from everyone else when you see a bit of humanity coming from them.

Ferguson is awesome. I started watching him this summer due to lack of work and I've really enjoyed it. Imo his low budget show kicks the crap out of anything else on late night.

This. I'm pretty certain he is number 1 in his time slot, and I remember reading somewhere that his ratings were even better than Conan's (whether or not that is true I cannot confirm).
Also I can't wait for the day Orlando Bloom is on his show after he used to always joke about how he's "dreamy" (still does mentions him on rare occasions).
Craig has many episodes where he speaks about serious issues instead of going the monologue route.
The most moving were the ones following the death of his parents and he eulogizes and father and his mother instead of going through the comic routine. He just sits down and tells a story about his father and growing up in Scotland for the entire time. It was amazing.

I've been watching Craig since Conan moved up an hour. I always used to watch Craig when Conan was a repeat and loved it. Now, it's perfect viewing from 9:30 to bedtime.
the music videos are gold. So was last week's Aquaman with Tim Gunn.
I didn't realize he was so popular. I have watched his show and found that it is hit and miss. When he hits, he is awesome... but I find that is misses too often for me to watch it regularly. Just my opinion... He's a likable guy though.
Different strokes I guess.

I agree about the hit and miss thing with him, but when he hits, he's by far the best of any of them. When he misses he's about on par with the rest of them....

What is the history behind the black guy, and the little guy that do these skits with him?

Craig Ferguson is very entertaining. I've liked him since he first took over the Late Late Show.
I've gone to watch his show taping, and he's even funnier during the breaks. They warn you when you come in that he can get pretty filthy. He's really, really funny though. We'll go to Vegas from time to time to see his live show. Its money well spent.
