GAME 14: STAMPEDERS at Montreal
The Stampeders' offense has been sputtering for the last 3 games now and Burris have been having some off games. Defense definitely won the 2 games for them and almost stole the other one. The last 3 games they played the bottom teams in the standing, BC Lions, and twice against the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Is it the case of Stamps taking this lightly or those teams defense came to play hard against Burris and company. Whatever it is, it needs to be changed against the best team in the CFL Montreal Alouettes at their home turf. Maybe this is going to be the game that they will wake them up.
OFFENSE: Burris has been brutal in the last few games and it was his execution that is in question. I thought the plays are being mixed well enough especially the last game with Reynolds running the ball, Burris passing the ball but most of the time the throw was either too high, too short or the receivers are getting covered by 2-3 defensive players. The TD-INT ratio is on the negative part and that is not too good. I still have confident on Burris to get over his slumps but I think it has to end on this game.
With Romby Braynt and Arjee Franklin tasted 2 games already as a Stamps, I don't think there is any more excuses of them being out of sync with the QB. Copeland is the main target by Burris and JC seems to be responding well. Unfortunately every team's DB are starting to key on Copeland but Burris haven't been adjusting.
Joffrey Reynolds is the only consistent performer for the offense. Even him made some mental error last game when he started walking around thinking the play were already stopped.
Even with Newman been out due to injuries, the OLine are still playing well as a group. Oline Tim O'Neill is hurting but are expected to start. OL Jesse Newman might not be healthy enough to play though.
DEFENSE: DL Charleston Hughes 6 QB sacks in the 3 games he played this season. He's been a great addition for the Stamps and I think him and Raymond were one of the reasons for the defense stealing the win the last two games. With Labinjo back playing again, the dynamic duo will start making the other team's OLine's life miserable. DB Keon Raymond been proving the Stamps coaching staff that they didn't make the mistakes in inserting him as a starter. He's been the best DB for the Stamps in the last 3 games. I like the DB's group now with Browner, Anderson, Eubanks and Raymond with import Milton Collins and Cdn Wes Lysack as at the safety position. Both safety can also play the other DB position.
DL Charleston Hughes, LB Marc Calixte and DB Dwight Anderson are hurting and missed practices but are expected to play.
SPECIAL TEAM: Demetrius Summers made us Stamps fans forget about Titus Ryan. He's been awesome with his timely great kickoff return. Punter Burke Dales struggled last game but I am sure he will bounce back. DeAngelis missed 3 field goals so far this season but he always bounce back after the misses. The coverage team for special team are doing their job.
-------
The Stamps is in sole position of First place in the West but are only 2 points ahead of Saskatchewan. They are playing the best team in the league and the Als are good in all facets of the field. In order for the Stamps to beat the Als, they have to constantly pressure Als QB Calvillo but at the same time make sure Avon Cobourne is not forgotten. Als offense have so much arsenals and if the Stamps gives Calvillo lots of time to pick his target, Calgary will be in big trouble. They have the leading rusher Cobourne, who can run and catch. Watkins and SB Jamall Richardson. Their OLine are tough to beat but I have every confidence that Stamps DLine will break them down.
Burris needs to play a lot better. He needs to use his feet once in awhile and use every receivers on the field and not just key on one guy. We can see the frustration on Nik Lewis face last time because he was wide open a few times and Burris threw to well-covered Copeland a few times and Hamilton intercepted it instead.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
GO STAMPS GO!!
More updates before game time.

I will say that I'm very impressed with Nik because I think in years past he would have been running his mouth and make it very public that he is not happy with the lack of balls going his way, and the fact that he has no TDs 3/4 of the way through the season.

I heard today that he is a game time decision but because the Als have already wrapped up first place that they might sit him out.

You would think the Als won't care anymore but i am sure deep down they want to beat the Stamps badly after losing the Grey Cup game at home last season. I am sure they will do everything they could to beat the Stamps because of the possibility of playing them again at this year's Grey Cup game.
I hope Montreal bring their A-game tomorrow just to wake up the Stamps' offense.

Well when AC sits in the pocket they have to get pressure or AC is going to torch the secondary.

I smell a blow out.
Stamps probably looking ahead to the Sask game next week.
Hopefully the O has removed their heads from their behinds and can actually do something this week; they have been awful.

Burris got hit as he threw - hardly his fault.
Bryant with a terrible play to not even fight for the football.

Burris didn't get hit, it was just woefully underthrown. WTF is wrong with Henry? He looks pathetic for qb with the amount of experience he has, hopefully that int wakes him up.

Cortez's play calling was been pathetic this year. You got a QB and an offense that have struggled over the past 3 games so you call a deep ball on the first play? Even if the ball isn't intercepted, it's more likely an incomplete pass, a 2nd and 10 and most likely a 2 and out. Run the ball and throw some short routes to pick up some first downs and get some confidence on the offense.
