Wow... this is the 4th time I've seen them, and holy crap did they rock the house again.

An absolutely kickass concert ... they played great songs off of all their albums, while still playing some of the songs off their new one. To top it off, they had a great band like Sloan to open for them.

Really, really good show... anyone else check it out?

Oh ya. I went last night in Edmonton and again tonight. It was good to be back at the dome. The band was tighter for the Calgary show and looked like they were having more fun. I gotta say the crowd in Edmonton was more into it though. All 4 of them came out for the encore wearing the white stetsons that Bronco gave them. It was quite a sight. I'm pushing 10 times seeing this band live, this is top 3 for sure. Probably 2.

the left ear is still ringing. Great show!

"Is that a penis costume?"

:biglaff:

I was in section 108, 6 rows up. Security absolutely clobbered a guy who just about made it on stage for the last song. Can't say I blame them.

Great concert... Sloan was pretty decent as well. It was cool when all the guys from Sloan switched instruments for one of their songs... talented bunch of guys.

My one complaint was that for Everlong, Dave Grohl played it by himself and it really appeared like he was building up for a climax with everyone returning to play the final chorus but that never materialized... I was just disappointed because I was waiting for that song the whole night.

Unfortunately there were a lot of empty seats in the Dome, which I found pretty suprising because I thought they had a bigger following around here. Still it was fairly loud and definately worth seeing, so if anyone didn't go because they weren't sure it would be high quality I recommend making it out to see them the next time.

yeah, I was waiting, looking for the guys to run back on stage as well. Still a decent version of the song, but I wanted it to be much louder.

me three

kept waiting and waiting for the band to kick out the last half of that song

other than that, tremendous show. I haven't been on the floor for a concert in a long time (I'm an old geezer) so that was great

and hearing "times like these" in the Dome again, had my blood pumping for some Flames hockey

Hearing Learn to Fly and Times like These live was the best thing ever.

First time I've seen them live, won't be the last. Quite possibly the best concert I've ever seen.

They rocked.

Agreed. If Grohl is gonna do Everlong alone it should be with an acoustic guitar at least.

Did they do the acoustic or original version?

Original. There were no acoustic guitars in sight last night.

from the Mike Bell article

Foo Fighters proved the poster boys for that, and also proved to be one of the mightiest arena rock acts out there, maybe even nosing out Green Day just slightly as the behemoth to beat

anyone else remember edgefest circa 1998....believe those bands were the co-headliners (alot of Canadian bands on the bill sloan, bif naked, watchmen, killjoys, matt good etc)

I thought Green day was the better band that afternoon, mostly b/c the foo fighters set (I saw the Winnipeg show) was marred by bad sound

How did you get tickets for the floor?

I used the FF mailing list to get tickets "before they are available to the public" and the "best available" were in sec 113.

All these people were going down by me onto the floor and I wondered how they got their tickets?

I still loved the concert, but would have loved a closer look at the band.

About halfway through the encore a guy came running back from the floor with a woman passed out in his arms. They were ruched into the bowls of the dome. I wonder if she was OK?

That was my second concert ever and I haven't been to anything that's come anywhere close based on the sheer number of wicked acts.

I thought Econoline Crush was super loud that day. I saw Hurst during Stampede and he's still really loud.

Grohl came across as super cocky at that show. Man, I loved it though!

If I'm not mistaken Creed, Holly McNarland and Tea Party were there too, right?

Floor tickets were easy to get when the sale opened to the general public. It looks to me like they only alloted a few floors for the fan club presales and the rest went into the general pool. I bought pre-sales...couldn't get on the floor so I bought 2 more when the went on sale to the public and got floor seats without a problem.

Here's a review of Edgefest 98.
http://www.dropd.com/issue/99/Edgefest/

I think that was the first time I saw Foo Fighters. I was at the Edmonton show, in the middle of the Foo's set Billie Joe Armstrong came on stage and dropped his pants and started singing the lyrics with his ass. I remember Grohl changing one of the lyrics in Big Me to "Billie Joe's Ass Is Juicy"

Wow, what a terrific show. My first tie on the floor at the Dome and it was crazy, almost too crazy at the start.

I saw the Foos back in 2003 in Edmonton, and that was outstanding as well. These guys sure know how to rock.
