Why are you backing in anyway??? Is it some kind of status thing for these tools??? They always seem to be the A-holes in their fancy-lame, small-penis cars with jackass attitudes... I hope they all get tickets!

It's safer to back into a stall and drive forward out of the stall, especially in a LARGE vehicle such as truck and not the aforementioned small-penis cars.

I think that is the story the jackasses use to justify backing in to the stall... Either way aren't you backing up at some point... Just deal with the small penis, there are other ways to please your wife and boyfriend

To me it used to look like ######y behavior, but after being alive more than 20 years I have seen where it comes from. It is likely from primarily men who have most likely spent periods of their careers "in the field". Whether it is on rigs, pipeline, construction. Every person that sdrives onto a site is required to back in or have their vehicle facing the exits when parked. The safety thing is drummed into your head from day one and that is actually where it comes from.

My guess is these guys make three times the cake that you do and have 1000 times the amount of historic dirt under their fingernails. So the real ###### is probably the boob in the Mazda 3 who has a $400k mortgage on a $425k house and creates silly stereotypes for things he doesn't understand.

and to clarify I love that the city is making life harder and costlier for people who live super far from their place of work, so keep going city.

Number one... you don't know a thing about me or the amount of money I make or how long I have been making that amount of money or about my many mortgages so don't try to group me in with your know-it-all roughnecks and "guys in the field"...

and as I said earlier... either way, aren't you backing up at some point??? I was never drilled to back into stalls... I am just saying, they are usually (almost always) jackasses with bs attitudes... and NOT these millionaire grunts with dirt under their nails

anyway, why would "guys in the field" need to back up so gingerly... Have you met a roughneck that drives tenderly???

And let's see what comes up on Google.

Backing out of a parking spot can sometimes be a little stressful and in some cases, dangerous. That's why there are many benefits to backing your vehicle into a parking spot.

When backing out of a parking spot you are entering an active traffic zone and because of the vehicles parked next to you, your line of sight is obstructed.

However, if you drive out of the parking space, you'll be able to see on-coming traffic much better, because you won't have to pull out as far before you can see what's coming.

It’s easier and safer to back into a space on your right.
I think you are talking out your butt "Ace".

That's hilarious, scolding a poster for being presumtuous about your situation, and then you come out with with an even worse presumtuous arguement about all people who back into stalls.

I agree the ticket smacks of stupidness but from the Parking Authority perspective.

1 - less revenue to overhead as all that needs to be done is drive by checks.

2 - The Calgary Parking Authority is the highest profit centre the city has there by reducing the increase in my yearly property tax. And in all honestly I love the Park Plus system, not because I have to pay to park (I hate that) but its an amazingly easy way to pay for parking with your cell phone. Very innovative and efficient.

3 - Its a very efficient way of patrolling lots - I think the City could use more divisions like Calgary Parking

Let me simplify it- keeping in mind that backing up is a partially blind exercize. Which is safer:

- Doing your backing towards a wall or fence or some other barrier that isn't moving.
- Doing your backing into traffic.

I hate people who cannot back into stalls well. But I get the safer part. I will also grant that it is easier to back into traffic as you have a wider margin for error. But the safety is not the same.

Yes, but when you back into a stall it is only stationary objects you have to worry about and your visibility is better. When you are backing out of a stall you can't see moving objects as well.

Roughnecks are some of the best drivers I know. Much better than soccer moms in mini-vans. They back up "gingerly" as you put it because they want to park in the stall. I really don't understand what is so difficult to comprehend.

Glad you have so much to do today... and besides, they don't know how to drive or have much traffic to worry about in Manitoba anyway...

Is this your way of justifying backing your Mazda into the C-train stall?

Way to stick it to "back in guy" They are cheap and don't read signs. They might listen to the radio or watch the news so clearly now they have the message. btw : I don't see any reason why you would ever want to back your vehicle into a parking stall? What is the benefit

I wonder what they would do if you got a 2nd plate (which I believe you can if you're willing to pay) and put it on the front of your vehicle, then backed in.

While I understand the City's point of view, I disagree that people should be forced to modify their behavior for the convenience of automated systems. Will it cost more to have some guy get out of his vehicle and check the plates of people who are backed in? Yes, but as always, efficiency should not be elevated to the status of holy writ that must be obeyed before all else.

I don't see you lasting here very long.

I just looked in the lot at my work and almost 1/2 of the cars are backed into their stalls. Among these cars is a minivan, a ford escape, a dodge ram, a nissan ultima, and a chevy tahoe.

I don't care which direction you park. But please please park within the parking stall. Some people don't seem to understand that somebody will want to park in the stall beside them. The stall that they are encroaching on.

I don't have a problem with people who have big vehicles. I don't really care. But they have to know how to park it properly. There should be a law.

Then those lazy people with small vehicles that still can't park it properly should be gut punched.

I hate the stupid Park Plus cars.

I got a ticket for waiting 5 mins outside my g/f's building after work to pick her up - I was physically in the car, and it was running - but the picture is so crappy you can't see me inside the car.

I go to court for it in Jan.
