Default A Note on Hockey's Future

...Looks like I'll be covering the Flames for Reggie's favorite prospect website starting some time this month. I don't think I'll have as much editorial control as I'd like (for instance...they predetermine the prospect rankings and then have the writers fill in the blanks), but at least you'll know who to bitch at if you don't like the content you see there.

You're brave, setting yourself up for verbal abuse like that. Good luck appeasing the masses.

PS-Hopefully their list doesn't include players like Taratukhin and Puustinen this year.

Hopefully. If they do, I'll have to just write something like "isn't Flames property, not coming back" under their names.

Damn, you're everywhere, dude.

I hope you at least get some input in the top prospect rankings. That is pretty much HF's bread and butter, and they are atrocious at it. It devalues the rest of the site greatly.

Just ignore the rankings like everyone else does.

I can't believe they don't let the team writers have input?! What do they know about Ramholt vs Pelech?

I don't think I will. I did work on Nashville for them this year and didn't get input on the prospects ranks - I was sent the list and I just did the research on each guy to fill in the blanks.

Let me know if you want some help with the OHL guys as I get to watch them on a regular basis.

Some first hand observations would be greatly appreciated. I'll let you know.

Wow, did you have to submit an application with a portfolio of your writing accomplishments? That's what that goofbag Holly Gunning asked me to do first when I kindly offered HF the Tardif interview I did a number of years ago.

Yeah, I did. Well...I sent them in when I initially applied. I saw they were looking for writers and I figured "why not"?

Well done; HF's Human Resources runs a tight ship.

They pre-determine the rankings and have you fill in the the rest.

Seems entirely backwards.

Seems entirely in step with HFBoards mentality.
