The Beatles weren't exactly musical geniuses, anyone with a decent tenor can imitate Ringo Starr. It's just no one else but Ringo Starr wrote the song and sang it for the first time.
If he isn't lipsycing, then he does the most incredibly perfect Ringo Starr imitation I have ever heard. Not to mention his imitation of the other three Beatles doing background harmonies.
There's a reason those bits got laughs from the audience.
It's entertaining, and I think well of Harper for doing it, but he'd better not quit his day job in hopes of becoming a Beatle.
Do you actually think the PM of Canada would go on stage at the National Art Centre with Yo Yo Ma and try to pull of an Ashlee Simpson? Really? He wasn't even singing during the background harmonies. Unless he is a ventriloquist too.
Absolutely, no chance he does that. This is his Bill Clinton with the sax moment. Give him the credit he deserves for doing a pretty good job.

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I've read on this site.
...which is ironic for me to point out, considering I've written most of the other ones.

He's not quitting his job so fast.

He sounds nothing like that nasally-aspirated Scouse git Dick Starkey. In fact I think that Harper sounds much better in singing this particular tune than Ringo ever could. Plus there is absolutely no hit of a Scouse accent whatsoever. Ringo was such a poor singer that he basically talked through songs and his accent was very difficult to conceal.
What a loser.
Hey Harper how about less time at rich galas and more time running the country? I HATE Stephen Harper.
Then how's about the Liberals and the rest of the opposition stop trying to defeat the government, and let them do the job they were elected to do? I mean, if one Saturday night is too much for Harper to take off, is it really a good idea to completely shut down Parliament for WEEKS to elect a new government?
And I realize I'm way off topic, but I didn't start it.
