Same old Browns:
TONY GROSSI’S GRADES
Offense: Brady Quinn’s throws were all over the gridiron. Four more sacks, another turnover. He looked better as a rookie. Converting 3 of 14 third down situations reflects equally poor play on first and second downs. Failing to punch in a touchdown on Denver’s fumble of the opening kickoff set the tone. Good grief, this wasn’t the Orange Crush they were facing. Bottom line: Not at a professional level.
Defense: Live by the blitz, die by the blitz. Kyle Orton made more plays on third down than on the others. Tackling in the fourth quarter was non-existent. Brandon McDonald’s lapse vs. Jabar Gaffney in the fourth quarter was a killer. Hank Poteat? Time to audition somebody else in the slot. Bottom line: Deja vu.
Special teams: Coye Francies and Blake Costanzo combined on a fumble and recovery on the opening kickoff. Josh Cribbs had one punt return of 17 yards and was bottled up the rest of the game. Dave Zastudil landed three of his six punts inside the 20 — one at the 6. Bottom line: Marked improvement.
Coaching: The two-tight end offensive base is not cutting it. Somebody has to instruct Quinn to throw the ball into the end zone on occasion. The defense gets gassed by the third quarter. At least penalties were cut in half, to four. Bottom line: Into crisis management mode already.

The Cleveland Browns are 0-2 and Ohio.com columnist Patrick McManamon has already accepted that the Browns are on the level of an expansion team.
McManamon points out that nothing has really changed from last season ---- too many mistakes, lack of execution and not enough impact players.
McManamon left Denver following the Browns recent loss with this:This Browns' performance was as pathetic as an NFL team could have. And there's no blaming this one on the fact the Browns played a good team — like the Minnesota Vikings.
They left like an expansion team, a ragtag collection of guys who can't block, can't avoid penalties, can't stop the run, can't cover the pass and can't come up with a play when needed.

Browns' rookie can't take a little hazing:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4504153
Quote:
Cleveland rookie cornerback Coye Francies, incensed over a prank, threw a bucket of ice and at least one errant punch during a skirmish in the Browns' locker room.
|
Quote:
Francies flung some ice in the direction of safety Mike Adams before heading toward safety Abram Elam's corner cubicle. Francies then swung at Elam before Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers grabbed him by the back of the shirt and escorted him out a side door.

Sounds like a little temper tantrum. If I was a vet, I would go after him even harder.

If they fine a guy $1700 for taking a $3 bottle of water I wonder what Mangini will do here? I mean he's still 123,300 short of what he's out on the Farve thing from last year.

5 Brown players have filed greivances against Mangini already this year.
Gonna be a very very very long season in Cleveland. That team is such a mess and it all starts in the front office.
Last 8 games 0-8. 4 starting QB's. 1 offensive TD. 21 turnovers. 7.1 pts per game.

Why was Derek Anderson playing today - I missed the game?
CLE needs to hire a legit coach, like Cowher, Shanahan, or bring Marty back. I never liked the Mangini hiring.
Is there a franchise QB in the next draft?

Snead and Bradford are the top two guys.
Bradford was the likely number 1 choice but his injury may change that.
Snead has a ton of talent but has issues with consistency.
Mccoy and Tebow are likely late first round/early second round guys.

Quinn started and was pulled by Mangini. Neither one of them was effective...but I suppose the score already showed that.

Columnist says the Cleveland Browns are the worst team in the NFL: Cleveland Browns morning news roundup
http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports...eveland_b.html
Preston writes: There was a lot of conversation in the Cleveland locker room about whether Browns coach Eric Mangini had lost his team, but I don't think he ever controlled it.
The Browns are a mess, and it started with hiring Mangini. Big mistake. Mangini, a control freak, is like a voice crying in the wilderness. The players don't respect him, and the Ravens didn't respect his team.
Ohio.com columnist Pat McManamon writes: Once again, the team that can't seem to get the most important position on the field right can't seem to get the most important position on the field right.
And not only can't the Browns get the quarterback position right, but the team, writes McManamon, is worse than they've been at any time since they returned to the field in 1999. Worse than the expansion team in 1999.

St Louis Rams will be disappointed they aren't included in the discussion.
And an interesting Rich Eisen tweet: Browns have only one offensive TD in last 9 games. Not surprisingly, in those 9 games, the Browns are 0-9.

Game of the year. December 20th, 2009. Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City Missouri. Kansas City Chiefs vs Cleveland Browns. Loser gets first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Winner gets second overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Great Moments in Browns 2.0 History:
http://www.cleveland.com/sportsnetwo...he_browns.html
- The Browns 43-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 12, 1999 - a game that marked their return to the NFL after a three-year hiatus.
- The cavalcade of first-round busts selected in the draft.
- The cavalcade of Pro Bowlers the Browns passed on in the draft.
- The Baltimore Ravens winning Super Bowl XXXV.
- Spergon Wynn starting at quarterback.
- The bottle-throwing incident.
- Dwayne Rudd's helmet toss.
- Maurice Carthon as the offensive coordinator.
- Former Browns coach Bill Belichick winning three Super Bowls in New England being considered among the all-time coaching greats like Lombardi, Shula, Noll and Walsh.
- The Browns 41-0 loss to the Steelers on Dec. 24, 2005. Merry Christmas, everybody!
- The Browns cut their opening day starter in 2007 a day after the first game. Not coincidentally, it was a loss to the Steelers.
- The inability to score a touchdown in the final six games of 2008.
- The Steelers winning two of the last four Super Bowls.
- And now - just added to the list - last Sunday's 34-3 loss in which Browns quarterback Brady Quinn ran a quarterback sneak on first and 10 from the Ravens 48-yard line.

Haha nice list, they could easily make a list(or five) like that for the Saints. I can't believe in '06 that the Saints had the final two coaching candidates down to Sean Payton and Maurice Carthon, and Carthon almost got it(that's what the New Orleans Times-Picayune was speculating anyways). I can't even imagine how different the Saints would be right now.
On a side note, no offence, but my new strategy in my fantasy football league is to keep taking and starting whatever defence the Browns or Rams happen to be playing that week, if available.
Hang in there brother! I know the feeling all too well...

Cleveland man accuses Browns Braylon Edwards of assault
http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009...es_browns.html
A-28-year-old Cleveland man accused Browns receiver Braylon Edwards of assaulting him early today at View Ultralounge & Nightclub.
Edward Givens said the incident took place outside of View nightclub at 618 Prospect Ave. at about 2:30 a.m. Givens said he went to Lutheran Hospital this morning because he suffered a black eye and a cut. He said he also has a headache.
"As long as I've known Braylon, I've allowed him and his friends to come into our events free of charge. Whatever jealousy he has with LeBron, he felt he needed to take it out on me."
