Wow. Incredibly sad. Of the anchors on the big 3 US networks I felt he was far and away the best. RIP.

Wow, that was fast. It wasn't long ago at all that he announced he'd be fighting it. By far my favorite network newscaster here in the States, and a proud Canadian.

RIP

holy crap, that is extremely sudden and shocking. I think we were all expecting a drawn out battle, and nothing like this. I guess the disease had done considerable amount of damage by the time the public was notified. My condolensces to his family.

Wow, that was extremely quick. I remember him announcing he had lung cancer a few months ago. Sad sad day.
RIP Mr. Jennings, you did great things with your life.

I am saddened to hear about this.

I don't even know where to begin with cancer. I just watched my neighbor go from a healthy 52 year old to a man looking to be in his 90s in a matter of three months. It's incredibly sad that a disease like this can just ravage people's bodies.

Yeah, from seeing on CBC, he quit smoking for 20 years, but started up again after Sept 11. attacks, a week were he spent 60hrs that week on the air, as calm, clear and professionally emotional as one could be.
ABC was what I was glued to that week.
RIP indeed.

It really is sad how quickly it took him.

We studied his work in my journalism class. He was a great journalist, one of the best.

As a fledging/strugling/quitting broadcaster there is no one outside of the sports media that I admired more then Peter Jennings. I've stated several times over the years he was one of my idols in the business. I was very saddened when I heard of his passing.

I don't know how many of you get NTV, but last night they showed a "documentry", it was basically a home video of Peter's visit to Newfoundland in the mid-90's. Absolutely fasinating stuff.. the camera was there as he sat around with Jeff (i think) Sterling, who owns many media outlets in Eastern Canada as they talked about mutual friends/world events etc etc... it was fasinating. At the banquet he gave a speech where he mentioned going outside.."for some air" followed by chuckles. That was around 1996 or 1997 so who knows if he totally gave up smoking.

Great man, great broadcaster, great Canadian. You'll be missed.

Nice program on him tonight. Watched the whole thing. Two hours commercial free. Was glad to see one of the sections of the program titled "Peter Jennings - The Canadian".

Anybody else think he looked like Keanu Reeves when he was young?

Anyways, great guy, great news man, and great Canadian. RIP.
