It is a new show that premiered last night, and will be re-shown tonight on Space (set your PVRs). It is the third Stargate series, yet is very different.

This show is much darker, does not have the lame camp of the other two shows, and it is much more raw and realistic.

The premiere seemed to suggest this will be alongside BSG as one of the best science fiction series ever made.

Basically this show is about a group of people that get stranded on a spaceship that is traveling from galaxy to galaxy, and they have no way of stopping it and returning to Earth.

Has anyone else seen it?

I've been a casual watcher of the Stargate franchise and a follower of BSG, so I might check this out. Too bad Space isn't in HD though

When does it air on an HD channel? If never, then I wont be watching it. But, other stargates aired in HD in England and other places. I cant remember where they always aired first.

Yeah, sometimes, I wish someone would get rid of him, other times, I sympathize. All the time, he just weirds me out. There's something off about him.

Seems like a combo between ST Voyager and BSG. Has potential, but Stargate has always been a lighter scifi show, not sure if its audience will take a liking to the new darker take.

So far, he's no Dr. Gauis Baltar . . . . he's a genius with a hidden agenda but Baltar's overwhelming mania for self-preservation seems absent.

And so far, this is no Battlestar, lacking the edginess of that series.

I'll keep watching in the next few weeks to see where it goes.

I along with my family have always enjoyed Stargate. Lighter, darker I'm not sure it will matter. I love scifi so really all I need is a set of characters that I enjoy watching.

This was my feeling as well. It seems like its trying to build of the success of BSG, but lacks that edge of your seat intensity that made BSG great.

The plot is enough to keep me interested though, so I'll keep watching to see where it goes.

That is awesome! Lets see if they can keep up the momentum...

Apparently the ratings in the US were the best stargate has had in 4 years. Hopefully this bodes well for the continuation of the franchise.

It's encouraging. But the pilot for Atlantis was also huge and then the ratings slowly declined. Usually lots of people tune in to see what the first episode is like. It was probably also helped by the fact that it premiered on the same day as the US. Oh well, we shall see. I hope space.com continues to have the episodes online.
