Some guys who could be on the outside looking in: Tomas Kundratek or Mark Isherwood from the Tigers, Walker Wintoneak/Sam Klassen/Milan Kytnar from the Blades, and a motley assortment of middling forwards from the Wheat Kings, Rebels, Raiders, Chiefs, and Cougars.
Kundratek doesn't want to play in the WHL so he isn't a guy I would focus on too much.

I am not sure Isherwood is that big of an improvement over what you already have.

Everything that I hear from Blades fans say that they are keeping Wintoneak and Kytnar is talented but would be an overager/Euro so not sure how many teams can afford that for a one dimensional player.

I wasn't that impressed at all with Klassen when the Canes played the Blades in the play-offs, but Blades fans seem to think that he is pretty good so he may be a good choice if the Hitmen need a slow stay at home guy.

The Canes are getting better... they only lost 5-1 last night. Judging by the box score, it looks like Bancks ran Vancouver's goalie to start a line brawl. Five players ejected at the same time.

Meanwhile, I don't care if it is just four games in, seeing Portland lead the US Division is just odd.

Sounds like Mappin asked to be moved.

In other news, Ryan Kerr, overage dman with the Hitmen at the start of the year, apparently quit to play football, has ended up with Spruce Grove of the AJHL.

Second "line brawl" of the year for the Giants already.

Bancks' incident wasn't nearly as bad as Letts/Pickard last year. Kinda brushed Jamie Tucker with his elbow as he skated by.

FF yes Mappin did ask to be moved apparently. One rumour floating around here is that the Giants will try to bring in a two-spotter (Kytnar from Saskatoon?) as Garry Nunn won't be back for a while.

Jason MacDonald has been released from the Hitmen, leaving them with two overagers. They can also fit a two-spotter in if need be...

Hitmen extend their winning streak to 5 games with a 2-1 over the Ice tonight. The Hitmen were badly outplayed but Michael Snider played a good game, Marty Jones is still out with an ankle injury, the Hitmen sat out 20 year old vet Cody Gross, just a day after releasing Jason Macdonald. The Hitmen will celebrate their 15th birthday on Sunday at the Dome vs Moose Jaw.

Hat trick for Nugent-Hopkins in Brandon Friday night. 6 goals in as many games for the kid. Yeah, he's the real deal.

Hurricanes actually get a win.

How bad is PG this year? I thought they were actually getting better.

^ Congrats to the Hitmen, didn't see the game but sounded like the Ice just came up a bit short (they had the flu too)..

Prince George isn't THAT bad, but they do kind of rely on one player for the bulk of their offense.

David Musil (yes, son of Frank) had the hatty last night, Giants come back in the third to beat Kamloops 5-4 in OT. Still a little concerned about the back end, Jamie Tucker got chased with 3 goals on 9 shots, but this year's team has all the work ethic (so far) that last year's team didn't.

Kamloops is much improved too.

Also, the two Giants that are still in the NHL (Kane and James Wright) played against each other last night. Kane had an assist on the GWG for Atlanta.

Hitmen blow a 3-1 third period lead and lose their first game of the year, falling 4-3 to the Warriors. Backup turned starter, Michael Snider gave up a couple of suspect goals including the gwg.

3 goals on 5 shots in the 3rd period for MJ. Not good.

The GWG was atrocious. Snider needs to be better than that. Especially coming so soon after Agar made the classic mistake of assuming the goaltender would cover the puck, and blowing the whistle before the goalie actually has the puck. Cost us the go-ahead goal, and then that happened about three shifts later. Ouch.

What pissed me off most about that third though was Rigby Burgart. What a stupid, selfish penalty on his part, and frankly, he needs to be benched a couple games for it. To go after a guy on a perfectly clean hit and taking the instigator is not standing up for one's teammates. It's an ego trip, and Burgart threw away one point for his team. It was even less forgivable given Schultz was already out of the game - he reduced us to 10 forwards for the last half of the third after that. So dumb

A couple of trades out East today:

1. The Blades acquired Stanford along with a 6th round Bantam Draft pick in 2011 from the Raiders in exchange for defenseman Brendon Wall, defenseman Tyler Yaworski, and a 4th round Bantam Draft pick in 2011.

2. The Raiders have acquired the services of fourth year WHL goaltender Dalyn Flette from the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a conditional Bantam Draft Pick. The pick is the Raiders 7th round selection in 2010, unless Flette is on the Raiders’ roster as of December 1, 2009, then Brandon would receive PA’s 5th round bantam pick in 2011.
