Alright so here's how it's going to shape down.
Requirements to make the pro team is a B+ overall grade, +/- of even (5 under can be considered as well though), and 65 games played with a veteran card. You will also require a mic for teammate communication. Even if all requirements are fulfilled, GMs do still have the ability to have final say in whether you should be promoted or not. With these requirements however, this should be suficent enough to qualify yourself as a good pro league player. GMs also have the ability to promote a player although they may not have the requirments of games played, but we use the one specified as a base setter.
If you want to request a tryout stint to try to make the pro team, just post in this thread and we'll scheduale a time and method of tryout. We may also use these tryout games for players that meet the pro requirments and want to give the player a tryout attempt.

As do I , about 15 or so.
Getting to a B+ will be difficult as well, only 3 people have it currently.
Additionally If we play with casual players who are intent on playing goalie that B+ will be hard, I know my grade dropped drastically when we decided to play 5 player controlled goalie games in a row LOL

thats actually one of the hardest things about all this. a lot of people just play for fun and don't care, but others do want to win. so thats why i think having 2 teams was necessary in the first place. when you just have 1 team thats open to everyone, its hard to say 'dont play goalie' as thats what they want to do.
so hopefully this pro team can have some standards that will allow us to maximize our abilities.

I have been a B+ for a while, and there are a few things I try to do as a forward that really help the teamplay score (which is the hardest grade to improve IMO).
1. Learn to dump, and dump often. Slap dumping the puck around the boards improves teamplay, and gives your opposite winger a chance to retrieve and set up the play. It also reduces your chances of turning the puck over as you enter the zone. Dumps = higher teamplay score, Turnovers = low teamplay score.
2. When in the zone, make a lot of quick passes back to your d-man or around the boards to a team mate. Lots of connecting passes = higher teamplay score.
3. Take good shots. Don't shoot into too much traffic, blocked shots affect teamplay. If you shoot, get it to the net. Good shots = higher teamplay, Blocked shots = low teamplay score.
That's all I have for now, but if a forward masters these three skills then the teamplay score will definitely go up.

I'll probably be on after the game.
I'm glad the criteria for the pro team is tough. I was worried the AHL team wouldn't have any regulars and would be filled with guys that barely play.

I think it's best for me to hang around the casual for at least another season. I, too, was afraid that no regulars would be playing. But i'll be on after the game as well.

This sucks royally...pretty much it's going to be the GM's only playing on the pro team. It's not the winning that I care about, it's they guys I enjoy playing with...this is going to be a long year

Thats where the difference between players on this team lies. We have players that want to play casually and just enjoying playing the game no matter the result, and then there are those players that are more serious about it and want to play to win and challenge top teams. This is where the difference between our pro and casual team lies. So for players that want to play under that competitive nature, would be playing with the pro team.

It's good to know that for now many of us will still be playing in the casual league like we have the last little while.

Almost everyone boosts, I liked last years version way better with the cards only. There are still cards but they just add to the boost. The golden equipment looks ridiculously awful and everyone who use it look like tools

Actually it might not be that bad if Casual teams play the pro teams. The only difference should be that the number of points rewarded should be different. (also considering the fact that you can migrate your character over to a pro-league team also helps out.)
