I always wondered if the shuffle function on my 30GB ipod really selects songs at random. It seems to play the same artist in pairs of twos often.

Me? I got a 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT-P. Loaded to the tits, but sans convertible (otherwise it would be an Eclipse Spyder). And convertibles are ridiculous in Calgary's weather anyway.

Nope, "random" shuffle is a formula as well. I have a few friends who are actually doing "research" into actual random number generators (used in network security) but otherwise, there is no such thing as "random" in engineered products.

What? Are you saying the random online poker shuffler isn't random?

Hmm that gives me an idea, if I could get some software engg schmuck to write me a program to figure out what is their algorithm, I could make a lot of money.

Heh heh... I sometimes wear it for a wedding or something because it is a really nice watch. The battery is long since dead, though.

The cell phone is the reason I can get away with ditching the watch. It is essential to my quality of life!

I'm never sure what I should clean my Plasma TV with.
I've had it for a year and so far I've only dusted it with the little blue cloth.
A google search on this subject is just a big circle of wrong answers!!

Kinda hard to see, but this is in the west parkade at Chinook Centre:
Near as I can tell, an old guy hit the gas instead of the brakes, and plowed right into two parked cars, right at the door. Good thing there were no people trying to cross there.

I think there is some kind of setting that actually allows you to set the "randomness" of your shuffle. You can change it so the suffle function has a tendency to play one artist twice in a row, or increase its tendency to play back-to-back songs from the same album.
I swear I've seen this menu in iTunes somewhere.
Outside chance it was a very vidid dream.

Yeah, I have a 160 GB iPod, with over 100 GB of music on it and that happens to me sometime too. Not all the time, but at least once every time I listen to it. And certain artists come up way more often than others too, and it doesn't necessarily correspond to how much or how little music I have by that artist.

Down Goes Brown NW division season preview:
http://www.downgoesbrown.com/2009/09...n-preview.html
This made me laugh " The bad: It's going to be awkward when they finish first in the division, only to find out that Jay Bouwmeester packed up and went home the day the season ended out of force of habit."

All numbers are random but some numbers are more random than others.

As did this:
Fearless forecast: The team should be a strong Cup contender except in the extremely unlikely event that Miikka Kiprusoff's play deteriorates, the way it has every single year since the lockout.

I was lazy so I mowed the lawn today in my pajamas (I just put a jacket over it) I got some funny looks from joggers who I think look ridiculous in their neon sweatpants.

Ha - let me clarify. I don't need to know what time it is when I am out, and am actually very punctual. I know when I need to leave somewhere, I just don't need to know what time it is in the interim. There, that makes a bit more sense.
